It could be I think they can play on either side of the ball at the next level at positions they currently play or potentially their skillset translates to a position they do not play for their HS teams. Additionally, players who add significant special teams value, usually as returners can get listed at this position because it better represents their skillset. More often than not they are skill position players whose overall athleticism makes them quality prospects for the next level. Most of the players on this list are likely strong D3 prospects and with strong senior seasons could always venture into D2 or FCS territory.
Johnson out of North Rockland is one of the fastest playmakers in the entire state. With a 10.7 100m dash and 6.4 55m in track Johnson has truly verified speed. When you turn on the tape, Johnson is a smaller prospect but that speed is evident. Johnson is twitched up and has the burst to turn the corner on guys. Johnson has the athleticism to play multiple positions and can impact the game on special teams as a returner.
Highlights
I like Tuttle’s two-way ability for Arlington. Their WR room was stacked this past year but Tuttle should take a more featured role this season. His defensive back tape from last season is where you see a lot of the traits that can translate to the next level. Tuttle is explosive and shows bursts when he cuts and breaks. He has a solid catch radius, evidenced multiple times on tape on either side of the ball. Tuttle is a good athlete who knows how to control his athleticism to make plays.
Highlights
McPhee who plays OLB/TE/WR for Pleasantville is a really solid two-way player. Defensively, McPhee plays with really good instincts and has a versatile skillset with the ability to be an effective blitzer and even rush the passer off the edge. McPhee offensively has a big catch radius and can align at TE or outside at WR.
Highlights
Ciafone who plays RB and LB for Eastchester HS shows really solid athleticism on tape, he plays with a good burst and flashes some long speed with the ball in his hands. He is a physical runner and is not afraid to lower his shoulder in traffic. Defensively, Ciafone plays with a good motor and is a physical downhill LB prospect. Due to his seize as a defender he is a solid SS/LB D3 prospect but plays how you want your ILBs to play.
Highlights
Connors a RB/SAF prospect for Fox Lane shows really good change of direction and lateral agility on film. At Running Back he has some quality jump cuts and runs with a high motor through traffic. There are some defensive clips of Connors and he shows to be a willing tackler and is physical upon making contact with blockers or ball carriers.
