Shakopee big man [player_tooltip player_id='1120583' first='Trey' last='Boyd'] is not only one of the top offensive linemen in Minnesota's Class of 2025, based on the number of Division I schools that have offered the soon-to-be senior before he plays a game his senior year – one of the top overall players in the state.

Boyd felt the Sabers' season could have been better. Based on two one-score games, he is likely right. The Sabers went 5-3 in the regular season and lost in the second round of the playoffs.

"I believe the year went okay," Boyd said. "It should and could have been a lot better."

Boyd's primary position was left tackle.

Since the football season ended, Boyd has continued to focus on his senior season of football.

"All winter and spring, I have been lifting for football with my trainer. I didn't do any other sports. Everything has been drilled towards football."

Prepredzonemn.com's fifth-ranked player in the 2025 class has been focused on his overall athleticism.

"I have been working on my strength and flexibility. Also – with my trainer - I have been working on offensive linemen techniques and blocking."

Boyd held ten Power Five offers – Northwestern, Kansas, Brigham Young, Indiana, Arizona, Minnesota, Purdue, Kansas State, Cincinnati, and Iowa State.

Ultimately, Boyd fulfilled a life-long dream – playing in the Big Ten. Last month, he committed to Northwestern.

"It was between Northwestern and Kansas for about a month. Looking at both, I saw a bunch of great things. The ones that put Northwestern over the top were the education and the culture. Also, I have wanted to be in the Big Ten ever since I was little. I believe it has the best competition, and that will only make me better."
