The bottom line with a lot of these running backs are many have not had the chance to be workhorse backs for their teams and gather a ton of film. In addition to the fact that the rankings were a little limited in terms of how many 2026 prospects were ranked leaving multiple RBs right around that cutoff line.
Check out the updated 2026 Canada Rankings HERE
- Just a note about these rankings if players list themselves on twitter or HUDL as a 2026 in Canada and 2027 for the USA I tend to put them in the 2026 rankings because these only include players playing in Canada. If a player only lists 1 grad year they are put into that year’s rankings.
- If a player has already announced a transfer to a USA prep school he is not included in these rankings as they just include players who have played and are continuing to play in Canada – however there will be content on plenty of the quality Canadian players who currently play or plan to play in the States.
#1 Overall Running Back
Carter who when you search twitter and HUDL does not have a ton of film but has enough to at least generate a bit of consensus also has some hype around him due to his athleticism and measurables. Carter is an elusive back who has good lateral agility. He is explosive out of his breaks and shows some natural bursts to his cuts and movements. Out of Bill Crothers Carter is a player whose expectations outweigh prior production and he is a player who we could really see move high up or down these rankings. Regardless, the athleticism and potential are clearly there for Carter.

Continue ReadingMarko Marovac Marko Marovac 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Cardinal Newman | 2026 State CAD – Marovac who plays for Cardinal Newman in Ontario is a smaller back on this list but he is really elusive and runs with a great motor. Always moving his feet and always getting north he is a slippery runner who just finds a way to break tackles in traffic. He shows flashes of long speed as a runner when he gets outside the tackle and into space but is quicker than he is fast on tape. He also offers some ability as a receiver out of the backfield.
Jack Butler Jack Butler 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Mount Boucherie | 2026 State CAD – Butler out of Mount Boucherie is another smaller back but shows great elusiveness in space, quicker than fast he shows really quick cuts and the ability to accelerate quickly. What separates Butler’s skillset from other backs with like size his the pad level he runs with. He can break tackles running through defenders by consistently running with a good pad level and never being caught to upright or tight. It also helps Butler lower his center of gravity improving his contact balance.

– a RB/DL combo here Llarena is a huge prospect for the RB position at 6’4 215lbs but he plays the position really well in my opinion. I think there is a justification for him being an ATH or DL but his best position is RB where his contact balance and lower body strength make him really hard to tackle. He also shows the ability to impact the game as a receiver and at his size there can be some creativity in his alignments on the offensive side of the ball.
