On Sunday, June 2, 2024 I had the privilege to cover Fairleigh Dickinson University Head Football Coach Anthony Van Curen‘s Football Camp, hosted on the beautiful campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University at Madison. Simply put, this event was a absolutely awesome. In the midst of a very popular camp weekend where locally both Rutgers and Marist hosted competing camps, Van Curen managed to host over 500 prospects, roughly 65 colleges, well over 150 college coaches, and just one member of the media – me – who will be bringing you the exclusive media coverage of the event.

My exclusive coverage of the event continues with this piece on positional analysis of the group mentioned in the article's title.

Positional Breakdown: Cornerbacks

It is somewhat atypical for me to see prospects out of Weequahic High School run the camp circuits; however, [player_tooltip player_id='212396' first='Mekhi' last='Armour'] bucked this trend and ran circles around the competition. A defender in iron-clad armor, Armour showcased tremendous recovery speed. This allowed him to play trail coverage techniques effectively and, when translating to game play, has the potential to prevent receivers from getting over the top..... Another prospect out of that I-78/Garden State Parkway North corridor was [player_tooltip player_id='1299960' first='Robert' last='Minter']. The East Orange Jaguar was one of the twitcher cornerbacks in attendance. Minter possessed a rare ability to match the speed and acceleration of his matchup. This presents as suffocating, air-tight coverage by Minter. My eyes did not deceive me on this, as he ran a 4.59 forty and a 4.31 pro agility.

Next up are [player_tooltip player_id='909278' first='Taylor' last='Daniels'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1299948' first='Aulander' last='Daniels'] - presumably not related. [player_tooltip player_id='909278' first='Taylor' last='Daniels'], a freshman prospect from Seton Hall Prep, is currently ranked as Prep Redzone New Jersey's #5 defensive back and #26 overall prospect for the class of 2027. After watching Daniels live, I fully expect him to climb the rankings. Daniels made very quick breaks and changed directions extremely well. As such, he was never out of position and always had a path to the ball. Additionally, his back pedal was fluid and smooth - only matched, or perhaps passed, by his ability to break off of it, turn, and run..... [player_tooltip player_id='1299948' first='Aulander' last='Daniels'], who plays for the Long Branch Green Wave, showcased as a refined, seasoned cornerback who did a number of things well. First, I was impressed with Daniels' ability to play trail technique. He did so without every losing too much ground and was able to either play the ball or make what would have been an immediate, secure tackle. Additionally, I also thought that Daniels made good breaks on the ball, indicative of him seeing things clearly when the play is in front of him.

We close out with two senior Tornados, Orange Tornados that is. First, [player_tooltip player_id='1299949' first='Abdul-Azeem' last='Lee'], showed his aggression and physicality along the perimeter. Lee stood out amongst other cornerbacks with his tendency to jam his matchup at the line. Not only did Lee prevent free releases, as a result he also was able to run with them well. Lastly, Lee was seldom faked out despite a receiver's best route- or head fake..... Fellow 2025 graduate and teammate, [player_tooltip player_id='1299950' first='Terek' last='Bentinck'], figures to line up opposite of Lee along the defensive front. A little bit of a different prototype than Lee, Bentinck was one of the longer cornerbacks participating at the event. This length allowed him to cover a lot of ground in a hurry and also tip many balls you were not expecting him to.
