The Trojans will have to replace a great 2024 class, but have reached a point in the program's development with high expectations year in and year out.

Alexandria continues Prep Redzone Louisiana's series of "Offseason 3-2-1" spotlights looking at three key returning standouts, two notable breakout candidates and one underclassman to know sooner than later.

3 WELL-KNOWN RETURNERS

[player_tooltip player_id='914208' first='J.T.' last='Lindsey'] — 5-11, 190 RB — Alexandria (2025)

The LSU commit, one of the nation's top running back prospects, is the returning leader of the Alexandria offense after racking up 1,587 yards and 23 touchdowns on 272 carries during a breakout all-district and all-metro junior campaign and should be one of Louisiana's top athletes to watch this fall. The multisport standout is known for his breakaway track speed, but is a solid all-around weapon with notable physicality to his running.

[player_tooltip player_id='1336844' first='Elijah' last='Nelson'] — 6-0, 220 DL — Alexandria (2025)

The Trojans will have to replace a slew of defensive stars, but return their physical, tenacious rising senior defensive end as a notable leader following his productive junior season in which he racked up 62 tackles, including nine for loss and two sacks. Nelson and rising junior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1601781' first='Xzavier' last='White'] are expected to be notable playmakers in the box to help set the tone as a talented, but new-look secondary finds its rhythm.

[player_tooltip player_id='914212' first='Darius' last='Washington'] — 5-6, 135 WR — Alexandria (2025)

The small, quick pass-catcher came on strong down the stretch this past fall, wrapped up his junior season with all-district honors and carried that momentum into the spring 7-on-7 circuit. With the Trojans replacing several top weapons outside, Washington should be poised to be a go-to target through the air.

2 BREAKOUT CANDIDATES

[player_tooltip player_id='1336791' first='Vaughn' last='Darbon III'] — 5-9, 185 RB — Alexandria (2025)

For all the excitement outside the program to watch Lindsey's performance this fall, his fellow senior should quickly impress some fans and college coaches in his own right. Darbon runs well through contact with his solid build and good balance and shows the ability to break away in the open field and looks poised to give the Trojans a dynamic duo in the run game to hang their hat on.

[player_tooltip player_id='1336785' first='Jimmie' last='Duncan'] — 5-11, 175 WR/DB — Alexandria (2025)

and [player_tooltip player_id='1250291' first='Alex' last='Fontenot'] — 6-2, 180 WR/TE — Alexandria (2027)

Two of the Trojans' top complements to Washington in the passing game should be another rising senior in Duncan, the versatile two-way athlete who recently earned his first offer from Millsaps, and the the rising sophomore Fontenot, one of the biggest targets of the receiving corps.

1 UNDERCLASSMAN TO KNOW

[player_tooltip player_id='1250281' first='Karsen' last='Sellers'] — 6-1, 160 QB — Alexandria (2027)

and [player_tooltip player_id='934573' first='Max' last='Gassiott'] — 5-9 QB — Alexandria (2027)

The Trojans are replacing a graduated senior, all-metro quarterback and have a pair of rising sophomores battling this offseason for the opportunity to lead the offense.
