2027 Trench Monsters

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While the 2027 Prep Redzone Kansas rankings are not very deep yet, some high-skilled big men are among the 100 ranked Sunflower State prospects.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here is a look at five top trench monsters currently in the rankings.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1113283' first='Alijah' last='Shaw']</strong>, DL, 6'7”, 240, Blue Valley North</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Shaw is a monster-sized two-sport prospect. He is currently ranked No. 3 overall by Prep Redzone and is the top-ranked defensive lineman in the Kansas class of 2027. He also plays center for Blue Valley North. He is from an athletic family and his older sister is the fifth-ranked basketball player in the class of 2025 by Prep Girls Hoops. He has quick feet, and can play both offensive and defensive tackle. Look for him in the Prep Hoops rankings when the class of 2027 rankings are released.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='934065' first='Angelo' last='Engler'],</strong> OL, 6'2”, 290, Blue Valley Northwest</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Engler is the fifth-ranked offensive lineman in the Prep Redzone Kansas Rankings. He is someone even I could run behind when he gets out and pulls as a lead blocker. He has good speed and gets off the ball well on both sides of the defensive line. He already deadlifts 405 lbs. and has the work ethic to get even stronger. I was impressed while watching his film and he will be a terror in the interior of the line as an offensive guard or nose guard.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='944902' first='Nolan' last='Hadley'],</strong> OL, 6'3”, 285, Maize</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Redzone Kansas had Hadley ranked No. 4 overall and as the second-highest-ranked offensive lineman. He was Maize's starting left guard as a freshman and should have a ton of experience by the time his high school career is wrapped up. He moves well along the line of scrimmage and is a talented runblocker. Hadley also plays baseball for the Eagles and shows off his quick hands and quick feet.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='944913' first='Trevon' last='Briley'],</strong> DL, 6'2”, 195, Junction City</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Briley is a prospect who is already ranked high but could see a meteoric rise in the rankings depending on his production this fall. Briley is ranked No. 15 overall and as the fourth-ranked defensive lineman.  He is a very lean big man and might not have an ounce of fat on him. He needs to increase video package to show off his skills and improve his recruiting stock.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1113151' first='Jack' last='Lough'],</strong> OL, 6'1”, 265, Basehor-Linwood</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I had the chance to scout the Basehor-Linwood Bobcats twice last season and look forward to catching them at least once this upcoming season. Lough had a solid freshman season for the Bobcats and will continue to take on a leadership role in the trenches. He is currently ranked No. 18 overall and is the No. 6 ranked offensive lineman. He has long arms and understands how keep them inside to push around defenders.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
