The Lonestar state is loaded with talent across the board. Well, today, I'm focusing on some rising sophomores that I think could break out this fall. Each prospect featured was a varsity contributor last fall and I believe each has a very high ceiling.

ATH: [player_tooltip player_id='1561956' first='Dadrian' last='Renfro'], 6'3" 200, St. Augustine

Renfro most certainly looks the part already, he's a strong runner between the tackles and can stop & start on a dime. He's got the burst to hit a small crease, and the straight-line speed to outrun angles. He's a playmaker on the defensive side of the football and plays with unmatched physicality.

WR: Carlos D rojas, 5'11" 175, Riverside

A slick route runner who knows how to use a stem as a weapon against defenders. He's not afraid to get dirty as a blocker and is even willing to step into the box to do so. He's got the vision to navigate through traffic as a ball carrier, the body control, and concentration to adjust to poorly placed throws, and had outstanding production as a freshman.

DB: [player_tooltip player_id='1259113' first='Kaiden' last='Foster'] 5'10" 170, Brewer

A consistent open-field tackler who's always closing on ball carriers. Foster takes quality angles to the tackle ensuring no cutback opportunities are there and looks to deliver the boom on-contact. He can roll up and play man out of the slot, he's got the speed to run with quicker wideouts downfield and was a pbu machine in 2023.

RB: [player_tooltip player_id='587989' first='Lathan' last='Whisenton'] 6' 190, Midway

This is a hard-nosed, blue-collar, north-and-south runner. Lathan can run through you or around you depending on the circumstances. He shows the ability to alter rush tempo, patiently waiting for holes to develop before exploding to the second level. Look for his numbers to skyrocket this fall.

RB: [player_tooltip player_id='1250348' first='Eric' last='Walker'] III, 5'9" 190, Bartlett

Walker runs with good forward body lean and has a strong lower-half that allows defenders to pinball right off him. He's a reliable receiving threat out of the backfield and can provide a serious mismatch to opposing linebackers. He's got the suddenness to make defenders miss and has the vision to cut zone runs all the way back.

LB: Rocco Bigham, 6'1" 215, Parish Episcopal

A tough inside linebacker prospect who has a nose for the football. Rocco does a good job scraping down the line with his pads square to the line of scrimmage, he speeds his feet on contact and can stun opposing ball carriers right in their tracks. He's a high-motor prospect who will chase the football through the echo of the whistle.
