About Lathan
Expert Analysis
Alin Edouard | Prep Redzone Scout
Lathan is a steady, physical runner who consistently produces at a high level, finishing with 1,502 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns. He runs with patience and control, allowing his blocks to develop before hitting the hole with strong acceleration. Once he gets into space, he shows the balance and toughness to keep plays alive and finish through contact.
What stands out most is his reliability—he’s the type of back who keeps an offense on schedule, grinding out tough yards while still being capable of breaking off chunk plays when the opportunity is there. His vision helps him find cutback lanes, and he rarely wastes movement, always staying efficient with his touches.
Lathan brings a dependable, productive skill set to the field every game, and that’s a big reason he’s committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football.

A big physical back with explosive speed and power, Whisenton is one of the best offensive players in the state. He totes the rock with twitchiness and physicality. Lathan showcases a strong hop cut through the line of scrimmage and combines his 4.5 speed with excellent lower body contact balance to break off long runs. Through just 4 games, Whisenton has already amassed over 600 total yards and 9 touchdowns. If the Panthers want to stay hot coming out of their undefeated start, they will continue to lean on their star tailback down the stretch. Lathan has received offers from powerhouse programs such as Texas, Oregon, and Oklahoma.

Lathan may have already exploded for 500 yards and 8 touchdowns in one game, but he’s not done yet. With plenty of football left this season, he’s focused on elevating his game even more sharpening his reads, improving his burst through the hole, and finding ways to be even more dominant. If this performance is just the beginning, defenses better be ready because Lathan is only getting stronger as the season goes on.

Another prospect I had heard of, but didn’t know enough about to give the nudge onto the National Watchlist. After seeing his times, talking to the scouts on site and doing additional homework on him, he makes the list.

-At 5-foot-11 and 170-solid-pounds, Whisenton was an absolute stud at the camp and earned himself a spot on the 2027 National Watch List with his performance
-Ahead of camp, I watched clips of him several times before he ultimately landed on my “wait to see how he develops before August” sheet. Safe to say he’s off that list now with his combination of size, power and speed. Was clocked at a 4.78 in the forty and busted out an 8’5″ in the broad jump
-He’ll be at Midway High School in Waco come the fall, where he’ll join his brother
