Texas 2027 Big Men Flying Under the Radar

Football prospects all across the Lone Star State will soon be strapping the pads and getting to work in preparation for the 2024 season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Today, I'm looking at which offensive and defensive linemen are flying under the radar. These young men showed an immense amount of upside on tape, but are still developing. Derrick has the strength to sit back and anchor down and plays with compact/well-trained hands, slapping away a punch from opposing offensive linemen. This kid is a tough man to block 1 on 1 and uses pure power &amp; quickness for immediate disruption. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>OL:</em></strong> <strong><em>[player_tooltip player_id='406764' first='Leshem' last='Nyantee'] 6'3" 230, Anna</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Leshem does need to add weight, but he's got quick feet, he keeps his shoulders square to the line in pass protection and can open his hips &amp; kick back against opposing speed rushers. He plays with good hand placement and has a bit of a nasty side to his game that can be further developed.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>OL:</em></strong> <strong><em>[player_tooltip player_id='465792' first='Brayden' last='Wood'] 6'4" 270, Braswell</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Was a standout at the lower levels that showed heavy hands, impressive grip strength to latch on, and good body control to maintain second-level blocks. He plays tackle right now, but I think he projects as more of a guard at the next level. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>DL: [player_tooltip player_id='471559' first='Tymon' last='Meeks'] 6' 270, Aledo</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Meeks is the definition of being able to put speed to power and can easily push the pocket. He's got natural knee bend &amp; rockets out of his stance on a rise. He's got the hands and strength to easily shed blocks at the point of attack and is sporty enough to kick outside as a five-technique and rush the passer. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>DL: Carter James, 6' 240, Arlington Heights</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An extremely twitchy interior defensive lineman whose speed can provide major issues on the inside. James is a menace against the run, he will immediately stack offensive linemen after beating them post-snap and does a quality job retracing in his rush lane if he gets too far up the field. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
