Oklahoma High School Combine – DB Spotlight

We had some outstanding talent all across the state of Oklahoma and even some of the surrounding states. We'll have a ton of coverage from the event dropping on Prep Redzone! In this post, we're putting the spotlight on the defensive back position. At our camps, we always like the DBs because everyone usually wants to play offense at wide receiver. So you know the guys who come as DBs are real dogs and we had a few of them on Saturday. Guthrie 2027 defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1260189' first='Frederick' last='Nash'] was covered earlier this week in our <strong><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/04/oklahoma-high-school-combine-mvps/">positional MVP article</a></strong>.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["1262602"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"Our first defensive back is Sapulpa 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1262602' first='Emmanuel' last='Johnson'] and he definitely falls in the category of a prospect that we didn't know much about coming into the camp but we walked away with a high opinion of him. Johnson was a similar player to Nash, who ended up earning MVP honors for the defensive backs. He's a smaller cornerback that was ready to go every time his number was called. And that's something that we always look for from the defensive backs at our camp. Livesay was a player around this time last year that we were high on coming into his junior season. We just weren't sure which position that would be. On Saturday, Livesay got work in on the defensive side of the ball and we were impressed with his overall camp performance. Livesay was the most physically impressive defensive back, measuring in at 6'2 and he put up some big numbers in the testing portion. Parker first got our attention during the testing portion of the camp. He ended up having one of the faster times in his group and then it was time to watch him go to work in drills. Parker was ready to get some competition on Saturday despite not being in a natural position for him at cornerback. Parker is a safety for Pocola and unless you're doing some 7v7 work, safeties have to come down and play corner in camp settings.
