Onto the final position groups that I will cover from the Prep Redzone NY/NJ Combine. The LBs and DBs were an athletic bunch, with most having the ability to line up from multiple spots on the defensive side of the ball. To wrap up this series, here are some of the players that had the most impressive day over the weekend.

A player that I wasn't too familiar with entering the combine, [player_tooltip player_id='1002386' first='Andrew' last='Avent'] has made a lasting impression with how well he performed Saturday evening. When you think of what a prototypical linebacker should look like, you can look towards Andrew's direction. He is built tough, and has the size to do some special things at the next level. He not only can bull rush the lineman, but his quick hip movement and foot work allows him to attack the pocket in multiple ways. The MVP for linebackers, this is a name every coach should get to know.

Jaquan Robinson: '27 Rahway

The second linebacker honing from Rahway, Jaquan is the speed rusher that can bring a swift ending to any play if he's coming with the blitz. Jaquan is a burst of speed off of the edge. He really excelled when going up against the RBs, as very few could handle what Jaquan was bringing. I highly recommend checking out the videos Jaquan posted on twitter from the combine to see how good he is for yourself.

TyShon Phillips: '26 Piscataway

Another athletic body at the linebacker position, TyShon really made an impression on the coaches and scouts at the PRZ Combine. Nominated as one of the top 3 LBs of the day, TyShon showed off his speed and footwork when he went up against the RBs. He was always in a good position during coverage, and displayed mobility in his hips to turn and run with the backs. Very few runners were ever able to shake loose from TyShon.

Defensive backs

[player_tooltip player_id='1273143' first='Germaine' last='Rice']: '26 Brick

As soon as I saw Germaine run through a few of the early tests Saturday afternoon I knew he'd perform well later on in the evening. He was one of the top all around athletes at the event and took home the title of MVP for the DBs. Germaine was not phased one bit when getting into the live reps against the receivers. He had the ability to press up close to the line and stay glued to the hip of the receiver as they took on downfield. A bigger body in the secondary, Germaine has next level capabilities and deserves more recognition.

Jayden Carter: '26 Hillsborough

Watch what Jayden did Saturday evening. I don't think there was another DB that mirrored receivers as well as Jayden did. Never shook from a stutter step, Jayden was able to keep his feet moving and go step for step with the quickest receivers the Combine had to offer. If you need a shutdown cornerback, give Jayden a look.
