Scout's Notes: Wide Receivers

First up is Cherry Hill West's [player_tooltip player_id='1274129' first='Storm' last='McCrea']. What drew me to McCrea was how agile the rising senior was. McCrea was able to change direction very well, doing so quickly, tightly, and without much room. McCrea is a bit on the shorter side, which helps him out when he looks to break off the stem of his route nicely. He sunk his hips well, never telegraphing which direction he will be headed next..... For as much attention as one receiver from the class of 2026 at Atlantic City High School garners, the other one, [player_tooltip player_id='819160' first='Javonte' last='Pinkston'], ain't no slouch himself. I really liked Pinkston's body. He looked strong, lean, and cut. Skill-wise Pinkston tracks the ball over his head very well. This was showcased each time he opted to run a straight vert. When his quarterback's would throw to an open window, Pinkston has really good closing speed. This allowed him to secure grabs I, honestly, did not think he would get to. Relatedly, Pinkston would extend his arms in front of him to make such grabs, with his hands, and never slowing down.

These last two prospects are ones I think we will learn more about in the near future. First was Camden's [player_tooltip player_id='1228164' first='Malik' last='Redd']. Redd had a devastating release that was very sudden and very urgent. His routes were crisp, tight on their B-lines and tight has he maneuvered. When the situation called, Redd would high point the ball; whereas he consistently caught the ball with his hands. He possesses the raw speed to create separation and broke down a few times - once to square a defender up and also when he was changing direction atop his route. Redd also took reps at defensive back..... a prospect I actually previewed, [player_tooltip player_id='1265767' first='Jaysen' last='Blacknall-Farmer'] certainly affirmed what I had seen on tape. Blacknall-Farmer has good ability to stop-and-go. He utilized this to change speeds, manipulate his routes, and create space for himself. Setting up routes to create exploitative leverage was also something he did very well. Blacknall-Farmer sold the outside fade hard, only to his hips back flipped around for an easy pitch-and-catch slant with plenty of space around him.
