Scout's Notes: Quarterbacks

The first of a handful of quarterbacks that stood out to me was [player_tooltip player_id='1271282' first='Tyrone' last='Baker'] from Pennsuaken Tech. Baker showcased a great amount of touch on his passes, something I would say is atypical at showcases like this. I saw a handful of times, like a tear drop, Baker place the ball with soft loft in spaces ahead, in front of, or in a place where his receiver could go out and get it. Often times the defender had no opportunity to attempt to play the ball and their only attempt to break the pass up was to play the hands through the catch. Baker would benefit from a refined focus on his lower half mechanics to get more distance on his ball. Right now he seems to load up just a bit..... With the [player_tooltip player_id='379494' first='Billy' last='Smith'] era having concluded, it is open competition down in Cedar Creek with a 2025 and 2026 quarterback vying to replace some big shoes. [player_tooltip player_id='1271284' first='Frenchmon' last='Bethea'] is the Pirates' 2026 graduating quarterback. Time is on his size as the rising sophomore has ample opportunity to reach his ceiling. A more urgent drop back will allow him to scan the field a bit more clearly. To me, this manifests as quicker feet allowing him to get to his drop a bit quicker.

Hailing from Mercer County's Ewing High School, [player_tooltip player_id='1271272' first='Jarius' last='Williams'] played with a great deal of confidence. Every rep I saw Williams take he seemed to be in rhythm and scream "quarterback" loudly. In terms of skill, Williams had a release that stood out. This allowed very little time for defenders to break on his pass, and to many solid completions in the process..... Closing out today's report was Moorestown's [player_tooltip player_id='1271273' first='William' last='Mindnich']. A name previously unknown to me, Mindnich showed very strong footwork. He got to his drop quickly, stepped into his throws, and moved himself into better position to complete passes. On the other hand, however, Mindnich would benefit from an improved, quicker release.
