Scout's Notes: Defensive Line

Leading off today's notes are two prospects I saw last week at the Trenchlab Gauntlet, [player_tooltip player_id='1264494' first='Camaj' last='Matthews'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1263136' first='Cinque' last='Matthews'] from Haddon Heights. Last weekend I got a very good look at Camaj; whereas this week I was able to get a much better look at Cinque. Both Matthews brothers come off the edge in a two-point stance and did not show to put their hand in the dirt...... [player_tooltip player_id='1264494' first='Camaj' last='Matthews'] showed quickness, particularly in tight spaces. He also showed that he was able to get his hips around the edge when pass rushing..... as far as [player_tooltip player_id='1263136' first='Cinque' last='Matthews'] goes, he put on an absolute clinic. Cinque was has the ability to speed rush and beat with a rip down pat. He also features a double-swipe move that neutralizes the hands of his matchup and propels him to get his hips around. Cinque was able to feature the double-swipe both taking an outside track and an inside path to turn the weak inside shoulder. The most impressive thing I saw Cinque do, however, was work under another prospect who had about 6 inches of height and at least 60 pounds on him. Cinque was able to get under his pads and totally dump him on his rear end... twice!

Egg Harbor's [player_tooltip player_id='1262457' first='Sam' last='Cicchino'] was another prospect who did very well in my opinion. He showed that he can turn a pass set into a drive blockw hen he feels too much penetration is occurring. While doing this, he makes sure to keep his hands active to refit and fight for the superior, inside leverage. Lastly, you could hear his anchor foot drag along the turf as he kick stepped..... [player_tooltip player_id='1270915' first='Stephen' last='Hankey'] of Palmyra was another prospect who used his hands well, although I would encourage him to be more deliberately violent with them. I liked Hankey's stance, which he generated power and a good get off with. Hankey was also fast off the edge..... Closing out today's notes is [player_tooltip player_id='1270914' first='Tyler' last='Frame'] from Pequannock Township. I thought Frame had good feet for an interior guy. He is a bit lighter at 225lbs for some inside defensive lineman, which I think attributes to this. He also like how he attacked the inside shoulder of his matchup very well, turning speed into power.
