The circuit of back-to-back-to-back weekends on the road has come to a conclusion, as I was fortunate to attend Coach Nick Pennisi's PSR BIG Camp Series on Saturday, May 11. This marks the second year in a row that I covered the event. Pennisi has grown his significantly from last year. With over 400 prospects registered for the event, I had my work cut out for me to identify and scout some of the event's standouts. As I feverishly wrote notes, here are my scouting notes from the position group disclosed in this article's title.

Scout's Notebook: Quarterbacks

Today we start with the quarterbacks from the class of 2025, both of which happen to be from prep schools. [player_tooltip player_id='1057666' first='Aidan' last='Prestigiacomo'] of The Pennington School was a prospect that managed to complete tough throws through traffic. One throw in particular stood out to me. Tasked with completing a corner, Prestigiacomo confidently beamed one to a spot on the field, enabling his receiver to go and get it. Faced with tight defense as is, there were a few extra bodies on the field that spilled over from the sideline Prestigiacomo's throw was a dart that had seeing eyes, weaving through limbs and bodies to eventually be corralled by his paired receiver. It was a pretty spectacular throw..... Blair Academy's [player_tooltip player_id='405406' first='Merritt' last='Fisher'], for my money, was one of the better quarterback prospects in attendance. For all intensive purposes, Fisher threw a very good, clean ball. He consistently led his receivers to a spot where only they could make a play on the ball and continue their trek upfield. I am likely being picky here since Fisher left such a good impression on me, but I cannot help but think his ball will become even more accurate as he follows through on his release and works his hips more into his throws.

The class of 2026 had three signal callers from today's batch that warranted calls for attention. First up was South Brunswick's [player_tooltip player_id='1278652' first='Matt' last='Rausch']. The Vikings quarterback had a deep ball that I liked. When he flicked it deep, he was able to get both distance and arc on the ball. This allowed his receivers to run under it and have it land right in their bread baskets each time out..... Similarly, [player_tooltip player_id='855779' first='Xavien' last='Rodriguez'] from Union City had a good long ball as well. Perhaps a bit surprising given how Union City religiously obliges to the Wing-T offense, Rodriguez seems to have the ability to stretch the field vertically. He was dropping dimes, consistently, from about 45-yards away in safe spaces for only his receivers to make a play on the ball. Could Rodriguez be the piece that adds a new element to the Soaring Eagles' offense?.... A familiar face is in a new place. [player_tooltip player_id='212393' first='Luke' last='Irwin'], formerly of DePaul, is now a Pope John Lion. Last year I remember walking away impressed with the then-freshman; fast forwards a year later, the now-sophomore resembles that more of an adult now, and even added some ink on his forearm. Irwin seems to have added arm strength and distance to his throws, without sacrificing accuracy in the process. Especially apt at deep breaking routes, Irwin throws the flag route exceptionally well in terms of placement. Irwin has big-play, home run potential every time he drops back to sling it.

We conclude for the day with two 2027 quarterbacks. [player_tooltip player_id='1278650' first='Brady' last='Hammond'] from Woodbridge appears to be the quarterback of the future. Already equipped with ideal size - 6'2" and close to 200lbs - Hammond has ideal size for the position. With this size Hammond has a great deal of natural arm strength. Moreover, he does a nice job of throwing to a window for his receivers to run to the ball, and continue running after that..... Up from Mercer County, Hamilton West's [player_tooltip player_id='1278651' first='Cullen' last='Bressler']. The rising freshman showed flashes of upside and was particularly strong at routes that broke off in the intermediate range. Specifically on the out route, Bressler was able to snap-release a throw early, allowing his receiver to key the ball as soon as their head turned, allowing them to turn up the sideline or pivot back toward the middle of the field to evade a defender who was over pursuing.
