There is going to be some good football played in Region 2-6A this Fall. The 5 team Region is loaded from top to bottom with some of the best overall talent in Georgia. Below are 5 players I think could have a breakout season on the defensive side of the ball in '24.

Sebastian "Rocko" Wimbush

6'1 193 LB/SS ('25 Westlake)

Just as I sat down to write this Wimbush received an offer from Morehouse to continue his education and play football at the next level. The rising Senior had a very productive Junior campaign. He recorded 63 TT with 4 sacks, 2 FF and returned 2 INTs for TDs.

What stands out about Wimbush on film is his nose for the football. Solid built guy that always seems to be in the right place at the right time in coverage. Decent closing speed and a very physical tackler. He is quick off the edge in the blitz with a good first step. Both pic 6's he had last season he had to weave his way through traffic then was able to turn on the jets and race to the endzone.

[player_tooltip player_id='283906' first='Solomon' last='Fabian']

6'2 245 DL ('26 Douglas County)

Fabian was a guy that caught our attention as a middle schooler a few years back. He has grown a couple of inches taller and added about 25 pounds of muscle since we last saw him 2 years ago. He had a solid sophomore season last year with 44 TT and an impressive 9 TFL including 5 sacks.

Explosive off the snap of the ball and has raw natural ability. Plays in a great program at Douglas Co surrounded by a great coaching staff and a slew of nationally rated DL to learn from. Big Junior season on tap for Fabian.

Jackson Thompson

5'10 170 DB ('25 Chapel Hill)

The 5'10 ATH is a definitely a diamond in the rough under the radar recruit in the 2025 class. Thompson is an all around athlete that plays at the WR and FS position at Chapel Hill. He is member of the Track team that just won the 5A State Championships this past weekend. He put up a personal best this season of 22.77 200m and 51.84 400m.

Jackson gets downhill fast from his safety position and is a great tackler in space. Very good at reading the play and has the strength to shed blocks and anticipate the running lanes. He was selected as a 1st Team All Region DB last season in Region 5-5A and recently picked up his first offer from UNC Pembroke. Region 2-6A will provide some good competition this Fall for Thompson to show off his skills. One to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id='1555807' first='Derrion' last='Horsley']

6'3 185 DB/WR ('25 East Coweta)

Horsley is technically not under the radar as he has picked up several D1 offers already this Spring but he is new to me. Long and lean DB with good hands. Shows good closing speed on on his Junior highlights but what I like is he has that wing span to get in there and break passes up. He had a productive season last year with 33 solo tackles with 13 pass break ups and intercepted a pass in East Coweta's final game of the season.

He recently but up some of the best metrics on the team in their Annual skills competition. Horsley posted a 9'4 broad jump and had a team best 1.57 10 yard split. Outstanding DB prospect whose stock will rise this season as he is tested by one of the best Regions in the State.

Kameron McClure

5'8 155 DB (Carrollton Trojans)

5'8 may not be the tallest DB in the world but if you are able to break into the highly talented Carrollton Trojan lineup you are doing something right. The 3 sport McClure shows great athleticism in coverage, covering a lot of ground quickly and staying in the receivers pocket. Constantly out matched taller WRs last season with positioning and the physicality to knock the ball loose. No doubt that McClure can help you at the next level. Not only does he play against some of the best competition week in and week out but he practices against the #1 ranked QB in practice on a daily basis.

Had a productive Junior season with several INT and a clutch FR on a blocked punt vs Rome.
