Capt. Conan Recognizes Five Ranked Kansas Prospects

Conan's Coverage Club,” will be regularly featured on Prep Redzone.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This series of reports won't be organized by position, school size, 7v7 team, league, region, graduation year, or statistical category. These reports will include athletes that data suggest need more exposure or athletes I feel need extra exposure.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here are five athletes that I am happy to welcome to “Capt. Conan's Coverage Club,” in this second edition of the new series of reports.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='442716' first='Charlie' last='Woleben'],</strong> DL, 6'5”, 215, De Soto, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Woleben has the least amount of coverage of the top-ranked athletes in the class of 2025. The De Soto defensive linemen has verbally committed to Big 12 Member Iowa State. He has multiple Division I offers but has chosen to continue his football career in Ames, Iowa. Woleben is equally solid playing against the run and pass. He will hope to lead the De Soto Wildcats to a league title and a run at the Class 5A state title in his final high school season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1115470' first='Kyle' last='Burnett']</strong>, DB, 5'8”, 140, Basehor-Linwood, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Burnett is a defensive back who is deserving of some attention. He is currently ranked No. 56 overall and as the sixth-ranked defensive back in the class of 2025. Burnett was a first-year starter for the Bobcats last season and finished with 27 total tackles. He also led the Basehor-Linwood with eight pass breakups. He is a physical and smart defensive back who is difficult to beat deep.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='692074' first='Nehemiah' last='Snype']</strong>, ATH, 5'8”, 145, Gardner-Edgerton, ‘26</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Snype is a quick athlete who recently debuted in the Kansas Class of 2026 rankings. He rushed for 240 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore for the Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers. He has the versatility to play in the slot and could become a factor in the return game. Snype will benefit from playing for a perennial state power.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1228532' first='Elvis' last='Ortega-Saldana']</strong>, ATH, 5'7”, 160, Garden City, ‘26</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Garden City's Ortega-Saldana is a hybrid back who can serve as an offensive weapon wherever an offensive coordinator chooses to line him up at. He has a nice highlight package on HUDL that shows off his versatility. The Buffaloes like to use him in motion and give him the ball on end-around plays. He is a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield or can line up in the slot. He is a low-to-the-ground runner who also looks like he understands how to block. He could get a look at the Division II and NAIA levels, but I suspect that several JUCO programs will target him as a recruit.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='934072' first='Holden' last='Applebee']</strong>, QB, 6'0”, 160, Mill Valley, ‘27</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mill Valley is not a program that utilizes very many freshmen. The Jaguars have won five straight Class 5A state titles so in that program prospects wait their turn to get into the lineup. Applebee is a young quarterback who could captain the Mill Valey offense down the road. He has nice size and will be well-coached. He is currently ranked No. 38 overall in the Prep Redzone rankings and this is the first time being featured in a report in the past six months.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
