This year is no different, so let’s take a look at five standouts from Canada that will be heading over to the US next high school season.
Marvyn Larozar
Marvyn Larozar
Marvyn Larozar out of Ottawa has been unreal to watch in the OSFL so to see him now head to Asheville School in North Carolina does not surprise me. What makes him so special to watch is his ability to continue at full speed when making a cut. This ability to just change direction with no slowdown is so difficult for a defender to tackle as we see in his film many times. Marvyn is also able to catch the ball as well, as we frequently see him get involved in the short passing game. If he decided to play wide receiver, he would be able to be just as dominant because of how good his hands are. Marvyn has been an unbelievable athlete for Canadians to watch, but now it’s his time to shine in the USA.
From Winnipeg, Brayden Hyde Brayden Hyde 5’11” | 165 lbs | DB St. Paul’s | 2025 State CAD has been a force to be reckoned with as he now heads to St.Thomas More in Connecticut. Brayden has impressed me every time I’ve seen him compete, so it does not shock me that he will be heading to the US. Standing at 6 foot and 180 pounds, he might not look the biggest or strongest, but when you see him hit, there is no question about how powerful he really is. But his hitting is not the only thing he is good at. I admire his ability to comprehend his speed and athleticism, which enable him to bait quarterbacks into interceptions or passing breakups. I am looking forward to seeing what he will do next at St.Thomas More during the next high school season.
Highlights
Elliott Drapeau
Elliott Drapeau
Elliott Drapeau will be leaving Quebec and heading to McCallie School in Tennessee, where he will be teaming up with some other Canadians that are on the roster. Elliott dominated the high school football scene in Quebec as he threw for 2600 yards and 28 TDs to just 1 INT in 9 games. The next person closest to Elliott in passing yards was 850 yards short. When watching his film, you will see a kid who can throw the ball 40+ yards down the field but also hit short routes. He is also very comfortable in the pocket, understands when he needs to step up or slide out, and will not rush it. His unbelievable strong arm and great ability to read a defence have led him to the USA, where he will continue dominating.
Louis Turpin has been a star in Ottawa for awhile, and now its his time to shine in the USA as he will be attending Cheshire Academy in Connecticut. Standing at 6’3″ and 215 pounds, Louis Turpin will dominate the offensive line with different techniques, such as the bullrush and swim move. If you ever take a look at his film, it is impressive to see how strong he truly is. You will often see in his film Louis knocking down O-lineman, even if they are bigger. Louis has a mindset of “the play is not over until the whistle” which is incredible as you will see him continuously work to beat o-lines until the whistle will go. I’m looking forward to seeing Louis Turpin compete in the USA this upcoming High School Season.
Shiloh Mukendi
Shiloh Mukendi
Another star coming out of Ottawa is Shiloh Mukendi, and he is heading to Asheville School in Connecticut for his next high school season. Watching Shiloh play, you will notice that he is a very physical running back with the ability to use explosive speed when it’s necessary. He can break multiple tackles and pick up more yards after contact, which makes him such an eye-catching player for many teams. But do not forget about his explosive speed as he can also run past the defenders and break the edge when he needs to. He reminds me a lot of Najee Harris or Gus Edwards. He will be a key player for Asheville next season.
