You’re able to take a pitcher deep, it’s cool no matter what.
On the gridiron, home run threats are just as noticeable. Tailbacks who break through the second level, receivers who leave everyone in the dust and quarterbacks who throw it over the top with ease aren’t typical.
South Carolina’s Class of 2027, though, already has a few names who are accustomed to doing all of that.
Chanin Harris Chanin Harris 6'0" | 155 lbs | WR Byrnes | 2027 State SC WR, Byrnes
He goes by “Choo” and has a motor that cranks pretty darn fast off the snap. During the Spartanburg portion of the Carolinas Coaches Combines, Harris hit 23.26 miles per hour on the GPS date provided by Catapult. To put that in perspective, that was more than a half-mile per hour faster than the next fastest 2026 or 2027 player (approximately 1,300 total in that category) in South Carolina or North Carolina. That top speed equated to a 4.41 40-time. He also had 4.43 shuttle and 116-inch broad jump, if you think the MPH was a fluke.
Mah’ky Green Mah’ky Green 5'8" | 155 lbs | RB Cross | 2027 State SC RB, Cross
The 5-foot-9, 160-pound Green has sub-4.6 speed and he knows how to use it. Let us give you a less-vague description of that. In the first nine varsity football games he appeared in, he had a double-digit carry in eight of them and averaged 12 yards per carry. He led Cross in rushing last fall and had 10 touchdowns. As his role expands to include more passes out of the backfield, it will serve a secondary purpose of preventing defenses from solely focusing on his rushing capabilities.
Trevon Williamson Trevon Williamson 6'0" | 200 lbs | RB Gilbert | 2027 State SC RB, Gilbert
When Williamson showed up to the Carolinas Coaches Combines and had added 20 pounds since the beginning of his freshman season, we already knew it was over. He’s got breakaway speed, no problem running the wheel and a build that makes tacklers think twice. Let’s not act as if he didn’t have a 300-yard rushing game as a freshman, either. Williamson splits out wide and plays some linebacker, too. Yeah, he’s got the goods.
Henry Rivers Henry Rivers 5'11" | 160 lbs | QB Berkeley | 2027 State SC QB, Berkeley
Take a look at Rivers’ first pass on the ensuing reel. It’s a mid-range throw that became an 80-yard touchdown because he placed it perfectly to a receiver who was running a perfect route. Get ready to see more of it, especially with Kevin Boone Kevin Boone 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Berkeley | 2025 State SC and Kayden Bash Kayden Bash 5'11" | 150 lbs | WR Berkeley | 2025 State SC back in uniform this fall. Rivers adds his own legs to the equation, as he topped 550 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. There’s no reason he might not be a 40/10 touchdown guy this season, which would be a pretty stellar haul for a kid who is still an underclassman.
Tre Segarra Tre Segarra 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Byrnes | 2027 State SC RB, Byrnes
By July of last year, Segarra had already done enough to warrant playing time during his freshman season. By Week 3, he’d solidified himself as the starter for the season and had people making comparisons to another former Byrnes tailback who went on to big things. Segarra has tackle breaking down to an art, and he can turn on the speed within a split second of doing just that. It’s a big reason he ran for 1,115 yards and 11 touchdowns while also hauling in 23 passes for 278 yards and four more scores.
