The Poway tackle is a very athletic kid that does a nice job at using his length and athleticism to get to the the second level, and can pull and block in space with ease. In pass protection, he snaps out of his stance, plays long with his arms/hands and does a nice job at creating a pocket against speed rushers while able to post on power rushers as well while not a lunger and staying patient. As he continues to grow and progress, he should build upon finishing blocks downfield and pack on weight to his long frame.
Highlights
Morales has a massive frame and he’s very athletic for his size with long arms and does a good job at using his length to keep defenders away from his chest while also showing he’s a natural bender in and out of his stance. He is a still young and developing kid, but has really improved over the last year and is turning into a next level prospect with the ideal frame to pack on more weight over the next couple of years with position versatility. He excels in pass protection and snaps out of his stance while showing a strong punch while quickly getting rushers off their mark, and is able to get out and kick against speed rushers while still staying patient against counter moves. Grant is a well coached and loaded team once again heading into 2024, and should make some big time noise in the SJS playoff’s once again come late November.
The class of 2026 guard is another true mauler that wins in the trenches with strength, power and driving people quickly off the ball with ease. He shows he can maintain inside hand placement, has a strong base through his progression and is also able to finish blocks downfield and get to the second level. He plays with a low hat, and can move well laterally while also showing good patience and use of hands in pass protection against both speed and power rushers. Look for Gibson to have a very nice Junior season for OLU and help anchor the interior line for one of the top programs in California.
