There are the major city like Philadelphia to the East, Pittsburgh to the West, Harrisburg to the South Central and State College smack in the middle. The majority of the rest of Pennsylvania tends to be pretty rural. It’s a tough state, much like the Linebackers it produces. Here are five 2028 Linebackers that could be up next.
– One of two Linebackers featured in this write-up off the three-time Pop Warner National Champion Downingtown Young Whippets
– Harlan is your lovable throwback Middle Linebacker, but can also play some type of Fullback/Tight End/H-Back position too
– Toughness can’t be stressed enough here. Also a Chester County wrestling champ and PA State Tournament qualifier
Highlights
– An Outside Linebacker who isn’t gun shy about coming up to hit, he ultimately may be better suited as a Mike Linebacker going forward anyway
– Dual-sport athlete. Also a defensive-minded catcher on the baseball diamond
– Resek is off to famed Pittsburgh Central Catholic for high school, after he wraps up his 7v7 run with PA Elite – one of the top programs in the Keystone State
– One of two Linebackers featured in this write-up off the three-time Pop Warner National Champion Downingtown Young Whippets
– Unlike his partner in crime Ryder Harlan Ryder Harlan 6’0″ | 200 lbs | LB Downingtown West | 2028 PA (listed above), who is going to East, Arnold be headed to rival high school, Downingtown West
– I really love his athleticism as an Outside Linebacker at this point. So much so, that at 5-foot-10 and 170-pounds, I wouldn’t rule out a move to Strong Safety
– First got eyes on McLaine in December of 2022 at AYF Nationals, when, as a seventh-grader, he was absolutely dominating against older competition. Fittingly enough, Penn State extended a verbal offer before he’s even started high school
– Left the Philly youth football scene this year for a run with the Maryland Heat organization, one of the top travel ball teams in the country
– He’s off to the defending PIAA 5A State Champions, Imhotep for high school. Right now he’s a bit of a tweener–somewhere between Outside Linebacker and Defensive End. Regardless, McLaine is one that stuffs the state sheet with TFLs
– Maybe it’s old age or a bias based off watching his film recently, but it’s hard to think of another middle school prospect that times blitzes better than Rock shows on his highlights
– Versatility is key here for the 6-foot, 200-pounder. Lined up as a Mike and blitzed through the line well, yet also lines up as a Sam and picks off passes
– Had a strong season for the Hopewell on both sides of the ball, pacing the Vikings as a Linebacker and Running Back to a 6-0-1 record
