Leading up to the complete, 150-player list on Monday, we will count down the top 40 in more detail.
And make sure to check back following the release for additional features and notes on the 2026 cohort, including looks at debuts, stock-risers and top positional groups.
No. 20 Nathan Green Nathan Green 6'0" | 180 lbs | ATH Evangel Christian | 2026 State LA — 6-0, 180 ATH — Evangel Christian
Green is (seemingly relatively under-the-radar) one of the top athletes in Louisiana’s 2026 class with a great combination of size, speed and ball skills that would give him a strong foundation for success almost anywhere on the field on either side of the ball. The past eight months since an early Baylor offer have been somewhat quiet for Green as he recovered from injury last offseason and transferred schools this academic year, but he has looked great in 7-on-7 and camp settings the past two-plus months and appears headed for a big summer and junior year.
No. 19 O’Ryan Mosley O’Ryan Mosley 6'3" | 295 lbs | OL Terrebonne | 2026 State LA — 6-3, 295 OL — Terrebonne
One of the biggest risers in this segment of the countdown, the Tigers’ big mauler is explosive from the snap and consistently puts defenders on skates as he keeps his powerful legs moving and finishes his blocks through the pancake or the whistle. As much as his size and strength attributes first catch the eye, Mosley appears to have good feet at his size and age, working primarily at right tackle this past fall and being quick to beat edge-rushers to their point of attack outside.
No. 18 Jamarcea Plater Jamarcea Plater 5'9" | 180 lbs | ATH Captain Shreve | 2026 State LA — 5-9, 180 ATH — Captain Shreve
The quick, explosive athlete with track speed is now listed an inch taller and 10 pounds stronger, while earning event medals early this outdoor season with 11.30-second 100-meter and 23.06-second 200-meter times that are among the best in his class. Plater appears to have next-level ability on either side of the ball, but has been particularly impressive as a versatile defensive back whose all-around athleticism, good instincts, timing and use of his hands in press coverage make him successful in matchups even against taller and older receivers.
No. 17 Ke’Rynn Smith Ke’Rynn Smith 5'9" | 175 lbs | RB Holy Cross | 2026 State LA — 5-9, 175 RB — Holy Cross
Another of the big risers in this group, Smith is Prep Redzone Louisiana’s highest-ranked 2026 running back prospect, depending on which positions an “athlete” or two ultimately land at the next level. The Tigers’ standout has good size and strong build, particularly for a young track standout who looks shot out of a slingshot as he explodes quickly to his 4.45-second 40-yard speed through even tight running lanes and to and through the second level with enough power and balance to blow through attempted arm tackles and keep rolling.
No. 16 Jalan Chapman Jalan Chapman 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL Warren Easton | 2026 State LA — 6-4, 275 OL — Warren Easton
One of the top offensive line prospects in Louisiana’s 2026 class remains steady in the mid-teens after a fall unfortunately limited by his Eagles’ shortened season. Chapman saw snaps at both tackle spots and right guard this past year (going back to spring game). And while his overall strength in his base, upper body and hands and his tenacity driving through defenders have consistently stood out, a few of his fall highlights show some encouraging quickness — both, at tackle, in his first step to beat edge rushers outside and, in traffic at guard, pushing one defender out of the play and quickly located and engaging the next.
No. 15 Luke Delafield Luke Delafield 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB North DeSoto | 2026 State LA — 6-2, 190 QB — North DeSoto
The state’s top-ranked quarterback holds fairly steady in the top 15 of the latest rankings and increasingly looks the part physically, now listed another two inches taller and 20 pounds heavier by the team than in the rankings on the heel of freshman year to go with his big arm talent and high-level character and leadership traits at such an early age. Delafield, now 23-4 in two years as a starter, completed 66% of his passes this fall for 3,229 yards and 38 touchdowns to lead his Griffins to the semifinals for the second straight season.
No. 14 RJ Fleming-Ricard RJ Fleming-Ricard 6'3" | 210 lbs | DL Catholic (Baton Rouge) | 2026 State LA — 6-3, 210 DL — Catholic (Baton Rouge)
As mentioned with Delafield’s continued growth in height, Fleming-Ricard increasingly looks the part of a next-level defensive end, now listed another 10 pounds heavier and stronger to go with the impressive explosiveness and quickness that stood out as a freshman linebacker/edge rusher. The Bears’ standout has been as active as possible in working to round out a complete game, getting in 7-on-7 work this spring around his role as a key rotation player on the basketball court.
No. 13 Chantz Babineaux Chantz Babineaux 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH Carencro | 2026 State LA — 6-0, 185 ATH — Carencro
In one of the more impressive seasons by any athlete in the state (let alone among underclassmen), Babineaux took the reins at quarterback for a typically run-dominant Golden Bears’ offense and completed 150 of his 271 pass attempts (55.4%) for 2,695 yards and 29 touchdowns to just five interceptions, while rushing 119 times for another 1,050 yards and 14 scores. The four-sport standout shows somewhat deceptive speed as he smoothly strides past and away from defenders and doesn’t shy away from contact, whether proving himself a tough ball-carrier to take down on offense or a strong tackler when working at safety on the other side of the ball.
No. 12 Antonio Gladney Antonio Gladney 5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH Parkway | 2026 State LA — 5-10, 175 ATH — Parkway
The Panthers’ potentially versatile weapons racked up 1,123 rushing yards, 294 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns as a sophomore working primarily at running back where his vision, patience and burst were on display as a consistent big-play threat. But Gladney is also a talented route-runner and pass-catcher with a knack for creating space in a variety of routes, good ball skills and sure hands. He has been a highly ranked prospect in every round of Prep Redzone Louisiana’s 2026 rankings updates and remains fairly steady at No. 12.
No. 11 Julian Burns Julian Burns 6'2" | 190 lbs | DB Neville | 2026 State LA — 6-2, 190 DB — Neville
Another nice leap for “JuJu,” who was already a top-20 prospect in the previous rankings update and now knocking on the door of a trenches-led top 10. The long, physical athlete is light on his feet and smooth from his back pedal, lateral quickness and explosive breaks to make plays on the ball and ball-carriers. And whether after the catch, in run support or blitzing off the edge, Burns arrives as a strong and sure tackler.
