My go to is running backs, but a lot of these athletes get it down in multiple positions. This is a testament on how prepared these ball carries are when leveling up into the high school ranks. Below are another handful of prospects to know heading into the ’24 season.
Christian Govea Christian Govea RB Walton | 2028 GA has a slasher type running style that brings attention to his speed and agility. His change of direction accompanied by his vision is top notch. On film you can watch him sift through traffic making defenders have to redirect their path just trying to put a hand on him. Once in the clear, the build up acceleration kicks in from track and it’s “all she wrote.” I believe this kid with transition in to high school next year fairly well due to his muscular frame and possessing all the right tangibles to be a star in the backfield on Friday nights.
Tory Hearn Tory Hearn 5’10” | 165 lbs | RB River Ridge | 2028 GA is a downhill runner who knows how to follow his blockers to steal chunks of yardage. He displays urgency through the gaps and finds a way to finish tough runs upfield. The kid is jacked up and doesn’t shy from contact. Being a dual sport athlete (football, track) will only make him stand out more at the next level.
Collin Griggs Collin Griggs 5’10” | 150 lbs | RB Hampton Middle | 2028 GA is no stranger to the youth All-Star scene for obvious reasons. He outruns second to third level defenders and is always a threat to hit the homerun. Coaches love an athlete who can make the first guy miss. Well Collin usually makes the first two miss then maniples the rest from there. He is a lean baller with elite return skills as well. I can see him being used in multiple sets next year to create miss matches in space. Bags include Purdue, Marshall and Nicholls State!
Highlights
Rylan Jenkins Rylan Jenkins 5’7″ | 150 lbs | RB JT Elder Middle | 2028 GA is a stud that gets it down on the field and track. Recently he has recorded the fastest 100m time and long jump in the state of Georgia. Does this transfer with putting a football in his arms? Absolutely? Jenkins shows off his scat back skills with his feet being a blur sprinting to the end zone. He also reads defense well, as you can catch him cutting against the grain putting tacklers on skates. I can see him being just as effective in the slot to get the ball to him in the air or wing positions to utilize his strengths in both ground and passing game as well.
Kylan Mays Kylan Mays 5’9″ | 150 lbs | RB Monroe County Middle | 2028 GA is a smooth pro style runner with great contact balance. He makes shedding tackles look effortless while he keeps his eyes downfield. My assumption is that his frame can hold a lot more weight and once he’s fully developed in high school, ITS A PROBLEM. I like his tangibles and attitude. He’ll get his hands dirty to protect his QB and looks to get involved in all phases of the position. Keep tabs on this one.
