SPARTANBURG | Sunday’s Carolinas Coaches Combine did not disappoint as 2026 and 2027 prospects from across the Upstate put their talent on display. The speed was evident as we saw quickness on display – from the pro shuttle, to the 40-yard dash and everything in between including the individual period.
During the Pro Shuttle, Ware Shoals quarterback Jayden Johnson was quick getting cone to cone with a time of 4.47 while Broome defensive back Asher Johnson came up with the exact same time. Johnson had a good twitch to him moving cone to cone. Fountain Inn quarterback Sam Holliday Sam Holliday 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Fountain Inn | 2027 SC turned the corner and accelerated to the finish, again finishing with a time of 4.47.
But the best of the pro shuttle may have come from the host school as Spartanburg wide receiver Zeke Bell Boyd (pictured above) finished with a time of 4.19 while his counterpart Kendrion Kennon finished with a time of 4.16.
Notables from the 40-yard dash include Boiling Springs linebacker TJ Collins, who finished with a time of 4.56. North Augusta linebacker Zeddius Tillman finished with a time of 4.63 while Calhoun Falls running back Isaiah Brown finished with a time of 4.62.
Moving on to the individual period, we came away impressed with Gaffney running back Jaiden McDowell Jaiden McDowell 5'9" | 175 lbs | RB Gaffney | 2026 State SC . McDowell did a good job of turning and making movements while securing the ball. He runs with a purpose. While he is listed as a linebacker, Emerald’s Christian Foster took snaps at running back and took some great reps. He is a powerful runner once he gets past the mesh point.
The quarterbacks and wide receivers looked solid as well. Holliday’s throw came out clean on a go route and we were really impressed on how he stepped into the throws. Walhalla’s Dylan Cobb leg placement was on point to be able to make an accurate throw. Carolina wide receiver Dre’shun Smith made one catch where he caught it at its highest point.
The defensive back who not only won an award at the end of the day, but drew the most rave reviews from position coaches Jason Layman of York and Jerry Caldwell of Chester was Boiling Springs defensive back Jeremiah Favorite Jeremiah Favorite 5'11" | 165 lbs | DB Boiling Springs | 2026 State SC . He did an excellent job of staying stride for stride with receivers and knocked the ball away when it came his way. Not many balls were completed.
The route recognition from Wade Hampton’s Jamarion McKinney was fun to watch. He did a great job of knowing what the route was and then he reacted to make the play on the ball. JL Mann’s Seantavious Perrin Seantavious Perrin 5'7" | 135 lbs | WR SC -Lattimore recovered quickly on a pass play to prevent a completion. Dorman’s Kentavion Anderson Kentavion Anderson 6'2" | 185 lbs | DB Dorman | 2026 SC did a good job using the sideline as a defender to prevent a completion.
