Spring Valley QB Liam McGuire Liam McGuire 6’1″ | 190 lbs | QB Spring Valley | 2025 State WV was a recent Watch List prospect that we spotlighted and now enters the rankings as the #6 quarterback in the 2025 class. McGuire has a great opportunity to make a big jump in the final rankings after next season as he’ll likely be the Timberwolves’ full-time starter in 2024 after splitting time last season with a graduating senior. He flashed some serious arm talent in the time he saw last season showcasing a big arm that can stretch the field vertically. McGuire should be able to showcase his running ability more next season when he becomes their go-to guy in a system that likes to utilize the legs of their quarterbacks. It would not surprise me if he’s one of our biggest stock risers after his senior season with a full season under his belt as QB1 and could see himself explode not only on the field but also for his recruiting interest and in the rankings.

North Marion’s Jeffrey Cowger Jeffrey Cowger 6’3″ | 180 lbs | LB Fairmont Senior | 2025 State WV is a fun prospect to watch with an intriguing future that we liked a lot when his junior highlight tape became available since our winter rankings update. Cowger is an unconventional defensive end for the Huskies at 6’3 180 who is undersized for that position but could make a great OLB at the next level if he wants to be. He’s a three-sport athlete who is also a quality player on the hardwood but I love his future as a football player if that’s what he decides to do. Cowger earned PRZ WV Class AA Second Team All-State honors as a DE last season but will debut in the rankings as a LB prospect given his size. He’s a very good athlete who you can picture coming off the edge as an OLB at the college level and could develop into an elite pass rusher at the next level as he adds more size to his 6’3 frame. Cowger also has plenty of athleticism to be able to drop into coverage to defend the pass as well and also sees time as a TE/H-Back where he has some possibility to play in college as well. He’ll debut as a Top 100 prospect in the 2025 class and the #12 LB but is a prime candidate to catapult higher with another strong season for his senior year.

Another linebacker prospect who makes his debut in our 2025 rankings is Independence LB Dylan Ritchie Dylan Ritchie 6’5″ | 180 lbs | LB Independence | 2025 State WV . Ritchie is another interesting prospect as his body further develops and transforms to decide which position he’ll eventually end up at in college. Now listed at 6’5 210, a move to defensive line may be possible down the road, and even saw time at offensive tackle last season after suffering a shoulder injury that prevented him from playing linebacker. One thing that you can definitively say about the Independence program is they’re going to get great linebacker play, and Ritchie was still able to tally 80 total tackles and 6 TFLs with his injury. He’s coming off of a strong performance at the You Are Athlete regional camp earning high honors for the LB group and an invite to Houston for the All-American Showcase. Ritchie is a late bloomer who’s still growing into his long frame but has high upside as a prospect who will likely take the next step in his development his senior year and someone who could make a big jump in the rankings with a strong senior season.

Bridgeport’s Zach Rohrig Zach Rohrig 5’11” | 185 lbs | RB Bridgeport | 2024 State WV got most of the spotlight in 2023, and rightfully so, but 2025 RB Josh Love Josh Love 5’9″ | 190 lbs | RB Bridgeport | 2025 State WV quietly put together a strong season as well for the Indians. Love is primed for a huge breakout senior season but still had a fantastic junior campaign in his own right rushing for over 1,000 yards and earning WVSWA Class AAA Second Team All-State honors. He’s a two-way player who could end up playing either position at the next level but is a natural runner in their single-wing offense. Love may not have elite size or speed but he’s a very gritty and tough runner for his 5’9 190 size and still has plenty of speed to be able to break away at times. He can run between the tackles with the best of them which is essential in their system and hits the hole hard every time he touches the ball. Love has some twitch in his running ability as well and can make defenders miss at times. He can get outside and turn the corner while beating defenders to the sideline, but his willingness to be physical and fight for extra yards is what I like the most about his game. The Indians won’t miss a beat with Love and Co. next season as they’ll reload with another stable of quality running backs.

Another addition to the 2025 rankings from the Watch List who got his junior highlights posted since our winter update is Herbert Hoover’s Avery Pannell Avery Pannell 5’9″ | 185 lbs | WR Herbert Hoover | 2025 State WV . He was another recent Watch List prospect that we spotlighted and said he’s likely a Top 100 prospect in the class and sure enough, he debuts at #98 and the #16 WR. The 2025 receiver class is a deep one, but there’s some room for him to potentially climb higher with another strong season for his senior year. The 5’9 185 Pannell is your typical quick and shifty slot receiver who showed a great burst and release last season as a junior. He has very good after-the-catch ability as well and can get behind secondaries consistently on vertical passes. Pannell is primed for a breakout senior year and should have a great connection with top-ranked 2025 QB/ATH Dane Hatfield Dane Hatfield 6’4″ | 185 lbs | ATH Herbert Hoover | 2025 State WV for the Huskies.
