While many prospects transfer to American Prep Schools during their high school career, some prospects continue to reach the Division 1 ranks right out of Canada. A lot of these prospects are headed to schools that regionally align with where they play the game in Canada because those schools continue to recruit in those areas. Take a look below at where the Canadian prospects from the 2024 rankings update are headed to play ball in America.
Farell Gnago Farell Gnago 6’4″ | 245 lbs | DL College Jean-De-Brebeuf | 2024 State CAD out of Collège André-Grasset was a dominant defensive lineman in CEGEP and showcased the film putting him a top our rankings. Gnago who was recruited by multiple Division 1 schools signed to play with Rutgers and will add to the long list of Canadian Prospects on Rutgers Roster. Gnago is a violent finisher and plays the game with quick feet and physicality at the point of attack. Gnago will need to continue to add strength and bulk at the next level but is one of the top Canadian Prospects playing in America.
Another CEGEP defensive lineman, Mboumoua out of Campus Notre-Dame de Foy was a physical body edge prospect who signed to play with Alabama. Mboumoua will go straight from CEGEP to the SEC after having a long list of suitors across the Atlantic coast. Mboumoua already looks the part physically and dominated his less athletic opponents in Canada. Mboumoua’s development of fundamentals and skillsets like his hand usage and pass rush moves will be key aspects of his development in the SEC. When you turn on the tape and see his body type in size, you can tell he already looks the part.
Jackson Bellamy Jackson Bellamy 6’6″ | 305 lbs | OL Clarkson Football North | 2024 State CAD who played for Clarkson Football North this past season, will be headed to Buffalo and he adds to the long list of Clarkson Football North prospects that end up playing in America. Bellamy is a massive OL prospect who has elite length and the power to push guys around. Bellamy has good movement skills and is a really good fit for the Group of Five level. Bellamy is an intriguing prospect who I think may not be too far off from playing early on in his career from what you see on tape.
Davray Venu Davray Venu 6’5″ | 295 lbs | OL John Abbott | 2024 State CAD out of John Abbott is the 3rd lineman from CEGEP to play in America Venu’s recruitment was that of a late bloomer and he chose to sign with Temple in February. Venu has the size to compete at this level in America and plays with a high motor and a nasty finish. Venu needs to develop stronger footwork and hand placement along with adding more strength to his game but his ability to move and the way he plays the game are intriguing traits for a player his size. Venu has a very bright future and will surely be a competitive performer at Temple.
Everett Small Everett Small 6’4″ | 295 lbs | OL Clarkson Football North | 2024 State CAD who was sought after by a couple of MAC schools is the second Clarkson Football North offensive lineman to commit to a MAC school where he will regularly be on opposite sidelines from Bellamy. Signed to Eastern Michigan, Small is versatile with the ability to play multiple positions on the offensive line. He is lean and plays the game with good quickness and explosiveness in his first step. Small moves well and can consistently block in space and get to the second level. An athletic OL prospect for Eastern Michigan with more size and bulk could become a multi-year contributor in the MAC.
Ronan Johannson Ronan Johannson 6’2″ | 180 lbs | WR Clarkson Football North | 2024 State CAD is the third Clarkson Football North player on this list and the WR will be headed to the IVY league to play for Penn. Johannson is a very smooth athlete and showcases the ability to make plays in the short, intermediate, and deep areas of the field. Johannson showcases good long speed and the ability to create separation with change of direction skills and solid route running technique. Johannson is a solid WR prospect who has traits that will translate to the IVY league.
Highlights
Noah Stanley Noah Stanley 6’4″ | 310 lbs | OL Clarkson Football North | 2024 State CAD , another Clarkson Football North Offensive Lineman headed to play D1 football in America was a highly sought-after FCS prospect in the Northeast. Stanley will end up playing for Maine staying close to the border and is a prospect that I think could end up at a higher level with more coaching and play time. Stanley is strong and he does a lot of people moving on the interior. He showcases the ability to play all of the interior positions and plays with really good snap and leverage out of his stance. An intriguing interior prospect for Maine.
Carlos McArthur Carlos McArthur 6’1″ | 255 lbs | DL Miller | 2024 State CAD signed to play for D2 Northern State in South Dakota. McArthur is a DE/EDGE prospect who shows really good hand usage and strength on the edge. McArthur does a good job utilizing his reach and getting off blocks and shows the consistent ability to cut back inside and finish the quarterback. McArthur already has the size of a college football player and building more explosive movements to his game will help him with with speed and quickness. A really solid prospect with clear strengths to his game for Northern State.
Samuel Tremblay Samuel Tremblay 5’10” | 180 lbs | K Notre Dame De Foy | 2024 State CAD out of Notre-Dame de Foy is headed to Maine as the best specialist coming out of Canada. Not many were more consistent from 30+ yards as Tremblay and he showcases the power to be a threat from 40+ at the next level. Tremblay who also punted for Notre-Dame de Foy is already enrolled at Maine and was recognized by Kohls as an All-American Honorable Mention.
