RJ Boyd – Ware County
Once known as a “sleeper” back, Boyd has earned several impressive Power Five offers so far in 2024, but he’s still flying under the radar with some of the bigger programs. He runs the ball for an impressive Ware County team now and is coming off a strong junior season where he rushed for just under 700 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was sharing the carries all last season and could see his numbers improve in a big way during his senior season next fall. A physical, tackle-breaking back with impressive balance and plenty of size at 6-foot-0 215-pounds, Boyd helped lead Ware County to a state championship in 2022 and will look to do it again in 2024. He keeps the chains moving, and he clearly shows the ability to make a big impact at the next level. What he does best is get yards after contact, and he did a lot of that last season as a junior. Even though his recruitment has picked up over the last several years, this South Georgia back could see more come his way this spring and summer.
Tyrese Hansley – Coffee
The Coffee Trojans ran wild during teams in 2024 thanks to senior Fed Brown, but that wasn’t the only back that did some damage on the ground last year. As the No. 2 back, Hansley is coming off a big junior season for the Trojans where he rushed for 744 yards and 11 touchdowns. More importantly, he helped lead Coffee to a state championship. He’s a guy who can also make an impact on special teams but in 2024, Hansley should take on the No. 1 RB job for a Coffee team that should once again contend for a state championship. Hansley is a tough runner with good size and mass at 5-foot-11 210-pounds. He barrels through defenders with ease and does a good job of staying on his feet after initial contact. He moves the pile and can be a real weapon down by the end zone. He knows how to find the end-zone, and he should see it quite often next fall as a senior.
Day’Shawn Brown – Colquitt County
An electric South Georgia back bound for a monster senior season next fall, Brown was a very capable and dependable back as a junior last fall for the powerful Colquitt County Packers. On a team loaded with talent, Brown stood out just about every week. Running against some quality 7A defenses on a weekly basis, Browns’s vision, speed, and big-play ability was easy to notice. Sharing the carries throughout the season, Brown still rushed for 976 yards and 14 touchdowns. When given the opportunity to carry the load, Brown made it happen, rushing for at least 100 yards in four games last year. He was a touchdown machine, finding the endzone in every game but three. His best game of the season came against Richmond Hill where he rushed for 127 yards and three touchdowns. He’s not the biggest back, but he flashed D1-potential last year due to his burst and ability to score. Look for him to be one of the top backs in the area next season as a senior.
