Elijah Pruitt
Elijah Pruitt
Elijah played on both sides of the ball this weekend and while he looked good at DB, he really stood out at the receiver position. This Brennan Bear showed quality reps throughout the tournament. What caught my eye the most was his ability to secure the ball in traffic. Pruitt understood when to use his body to make catches and when to extend his arms and bring the ball in with his hands. I didn’t see a ton of route variations, but I did take note of his aggressive play at the position. Only time will tell what Elijah will do as an upperclassmen next year, but this NHS member has the brains and the body to compete for varsity minutes.

Darriyn Morales
Darriyn Morales
Steele seems to have a never-ending supply of DOGS at the receiver position. Darriyn is really a prototypical athlete, so I can’t just put this dude in one box. He can throw, he can run, he can catch and he can kick. I’m writing this from what I saw him do this past weekend. Morales has elite footwork, which I’m assuming derives from his time breaking school records on the soccer pitch. This footwork and ability to flip his hips fluidly created separation on numerous occasions that led to TD’s. I saw him and his QB often communicating as to what they saw in coverage and exploited it over and over. When you have a player like Darriyn on the field it tends to open up other players down field, which a huge plus for any coaching staff and receivers alike. I saw him run whips, jerks, drags and I saw him get deep. All I know is that whatever position he gets placed at, he’s going to excel.

William Goodloe
William Goodloe
Sharyland Pioneer Diamondbacks stand up! Yall have a good one on your hands down there in the valley. Will Goodloe is rated by some as a Top Prospect at the safety position, but I am writing this from what I saw him do as a wideout. At 6’3, 180lbs, Mr. Goodloe is a hard target to look away from. London Morgan went to him early and often this weekend. Not to take away from the other weapons that Team Goat put on the field, cause they could all play, but Will stood out. The big framed wide receiver took intermediate and deep routes to the house. This track runner has good on-field speed to and we all saw it put on display. Friday nights in Mission, Tx are going to be live this fall. Whether it’s at safety or receiver, someone in the RGV is getting a Goodloe Head-Tap!

Joseph Dimando
Joseph Dimando
One of my Prep Redzone Next guys! Joseph “JoJo” Dimando has good size and great hands for a young 8th grade receiver. Joseph tracks the ball in and out of traffic and this is really where I see him setting himself apart. If you throw up a 50/50 in his direction, those odds are gonna change because he is going to find a way to make a play on the ball. I have been able to see this young man play a few times and he always grabs my attention. The dude has a certain skillset that a lot of receivers would love to have. Some have hands, some have quickness and agility, some can jump, so on and so on. JoJo runs decent routes, he’s still young so that’ll come in time, but the ability to find the ball and make acrobatic catches in traffic is beyond his years. He’ll be a Rocket next year and I don’t know if he’ll see varsity minutes as a freshman, but I do know that he is a high potential athlete.
