Steele High School is starting to become the DBU of Central Texas. They’ve put out some dogs in the P5 the past few years and they have another coming up the pipeline. 6’3′ 185lb, Safety, Eli Johnson Eli Johnson 6’3″ | 185 lbs | WR Steele | 2027 State TX . This dude is long, athletic and focused. He already holds an offer from the Runners at UTSA. I speak on work ethic a lot, as I feel that it’s an attribute that anyone can attain if they really want it. Well, Eli, he wants it! He shows good awareness and eye discipline in zone coverage. Johnson has the ability to stay on your hip in man coverage. He has a smooth transition from his back pedal to his break to turn and run which aids in his ability to effectively close off space between receivers and the sideline. I saw Eli high point picks on a few separate occasions, so that catch radius is tough. Listen, the dude is only a freshman, 3 more years of work and Steele has got themselves another P5 DB.

David Clack III
David Clack III
Come and Take It! That’s what the young man from Gonzales High was doing when the rock was in his area! David Clack III dominates receivers in coverage, mirroring their movements and staying close. His exceptional acceleration lets him challenge throws with a burst of speed, and his agility allows him to swiftly change direction to disrupt plays. This combination of skills makes him a defensive force, posting multiple pass break ups and picks in the tournament. Clack is definitely an athlete running clean routes and making some big catches on the offensive side of the ball, but I guess time will tell what he is going to play in his upcoming junior year. I won’t be surprised to see him toting the rock and RB and locking up receivers on defense. I look forward to watching this young man ball.

Luis Santiago
Luis Santiago
Don’t let the size fool you! Santiago excels at disrupting receivers, staying tight in coverage and anticipating their cuts and changes in direction. His exceptional reflexes allow for immediate reactions when the ball is thrown, making him a constant threat to intercept or deflect passes. Beyond reflexes, Luis possesses some decent speed to keep up with the receivers, preventing them from outrunning him for a big gain. This combination of speed, instincts, and tight coverage makes Santiago a problem for opposing quarterbacks, solidifying the SA Thoroughbreds defense as a force against the pass. He’s only a freshman, so he has plenty of time to grow physically and mentally. Luis is another one that can play both sides of the ball, so I’m sure he’ll get his reps at the wideout position as well. Which will only help him further understand how to defend the receiver spot.
Dakari Hamilton Dakari Hamilton 5’9″ | 135 lbs | DB Dobie Middle School | 2028 TX has a nose for the football, plain and simple. He studies the game, allowing him to understand the quarterback’s tendencies pre snap. His focus is sharp, tracking the quarterback’s eyes and reading their body language for clues about the play. This preparation translates into quick decisions on the field. Hamilton is smooth out of his stance at the snap, taking away throwing lanes and forcing the quarterback into difficult decisions. His hands are solid, consistently going up for interceptions with impressive timing and focus and has shown the ability to track down tipped passes. Dakari thrives in high-pressure situations, his ability to snatch the ball out of the air a constant threat to opposing offenses. He’s a true ball hawk, and with continued work, he has the makings of being a very good defensive back in years to come. The future is bright!
