We start tonight with the beloved 2025 gunslingers in South Dakota, as we start the breakdown from QB10 to QB6 on our 2025 board. With these, I’ll focus most on the tape, and importantly for the subscribers what separates QB8 vs. QB7, etc.
#10: Caden Alfson Caden Alfson 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB West Central | 2025 State SD , West Central Twitter
Checking in at #10 is West Central’s Caden Alfson Caden Alfson 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB West Central | 2025 State SD . Caden on tape shows off a quick release and shows off the elusiveness to have success throwing from the run which on all three levels of the field, his arm strength shows off smooth fluidity out of his throwing motion and the throws show good balance. The reason why Caden checks in at #10, is because his tape is so limited and he is slightly under the measurables threshold at 5’11 205 pounds. If Caden puts more reps of what I saw tonight, you can bet though that this kid could be a mover by our next 2025 rankings update.
#9: Jackson Eisemann Jackson Eisemann 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Mobridge-Pollock | 2025 State SD , Mobridge-Pollock Twitter
The athleticism Jackson has outside of the pocket is what takes his game up a notch in my eyes. I think his game translates better to wide receiver at the next-level but I like the precision and touch on his throws especially with intermediate routes. Similar to Caden, he thrives throwing from the run, however I felt Jackson peaks higher based on the difficulty level of throws he had to make which shows that this kid can fit the ball in some tighter windows. Not sure what the Tigers QB room looks like going into Jackson’s senior season but I would expect him to see balance between his reps like last season.
#8: Carter Williams Carter Williams 6'3" | 175 lbs | QB Sturgis Brown | 2025 State SD , QB, Sturgis Brown Twitter
At 6’4 190 pounds, Sturgis Brown’s Carter Williams Carter Williams 6'3" | 175 lbs | QB Sturgis Brown | 2025 State SD certainly fits the bill of measurables that college coaches want from the quarterback posistion, as Carter checks in our #8 spot amongst South Dakota 2025 gunslingers. The quite quick release Carter shows off well-seen arm strength and that being shown on a consistent basis passes my eye test. You can tell Carter has growing chemistry with his Scoopers receiving core, as his game tapes show plenty of throws where he fire-pops with poise. The mobility Carter has too at that size outside of the pocket put him higher than the others listed as I would like to see how this kid tests this summer at camps. Would improve his stock with a 2023 highlight tape.
#7: Blaise Showers Blaise Showers 6'4" | 205 lbs | QB Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2025 State SD , QB, Sioux Falls Lincoln Twittter
By far the biggest arm in this grouping so far comes from Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Blaise Showers Blaise Showers 6'4" | 205 lbs | QB Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2025 State SD . I have gotten the chance to cover this young man for the last few years and 2024 is his turn to shine as QB1 for the 11AAA state champs in 2023, and I beleive the 6’4 200 pounder will make significant waves over the next 6-9 months. Blaise is significantly mobile for his size, as I geuininely believe playing 7v7 has enhanced his mobility, and his testing numbers from our Prep Redzone Dakotas Combine last summer show that vividly. Blaise lands at QB7, as I believe his upside will rise once camp season starts and could easily be into the top five by end of the summer.
#6 Simon Kieffer Simon Kieffer 5'11" | QB Rapid City Christian | 2025 State SD , QB, Rapid City Christian Twitter
QB6 in our South Dakota 2025 rankings is Simon Kieffer Simon Kieffer 5'11" | QB Rapid City Christian | 2025 State SD of Rapid City Christian. I know I have beat the drum on this kid for a while now naming him even last year as one of the top gunslingers in the Rapid City Area as just a sophomore then. His tape from his junior season is limited at the moment, but that doesn’t mean that his junior season wasn’t a big one for him and the Comets. The 6’0 160 pounder, has some of the best in pocket poise I see from this group so far and although slightly undersized, Another 2025 prospect that can prove his stock further this summer at prospect camps.
