He currently has 8 Division 1 offers including a ton of Ivy League schools like Harvard, and Princeton. He recently picked up an offer from the Navy. Below are 5 questions with Saxton:
Highlights
1) How is your recruitment going?
It’s been going well. I recently received my first handful of offers and it’s nice to know that the work I put in is finally being recognized. But I still have a long way to go and a lot more work to put in if I want to get to where I want to be.
2) I noticed you got a ton of Ivy League schools. How exciting it is to be recruited by some of the most elite academic schools in the country?
It feels great to know that not only my hard work on the field but what I do in the classroom as well is paying off. I’ve always prided myself in excelling in the classroom and it’s showing. Ivy schools are great opportunities that I am making sure not to overlook.
3) It’s very rare to have a tall cornerback like yourself (Saxton is 6’3″ inches tall). Do you think it is a huge advantage for you?
My height helps me a lot in the CB position. It gives me a lot of versatility. I can shut down the taller receivers, and I can run with the shorter, quicker guys too. It helps me a lot when the ball is in the air too. It makes the throw harder for the QB to get it over me and I have an advantage in attacking the ball over many receivers.
4) Any goals for the off-season?
My main goal this off-season is to get even faster and stronger than I already am. I also want to master my craft as a CB to have an elite senior season and prepare myself for the next level too. I am also looking to take multiple visits to hopefully find a school that is a perfect fit for me.
5) How much fun is it to play for a head coach like Coach Yonchiuk?
It’s amazing to play for Coach Yonchiuk. The best thing you’ll notice about him and the rest of the Central York coaching staff is that they want nothing but the best for us. That goes for football, but in school and life too. They are focused on developing us into great young men. Coach Yonchiuk has also provided me with many great opportunities throughout my high school career, and I wouldn’t be at the point I am now without him and the rest of the staff.
