We have also seen a handful of these young men at our recent Spring and Winter combines, and they certainly have taken their skills further since our last evaluation. And of course, a hog-molly from the state champs had to be on our Part III list, as the water remains in good hands in Govs Country.
Kolby quickly shows off sizable instincts with his vision to the ball carrier. He is a 5’9 185 pounder that regardless of what side of the ball he is on for the Tigers, his athleticism crafts a well-versed amount of fluidity. His first step shows off a hammering motor that trends well as a constant downhill MIKE in the backfield. Saw this kid’s work ethic and high character at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase this winter, and I believe that evaluation gave me the further impression of a next-level prospect on Saturdays. Mack Saxon
Mack Saxon
One of my early 2027 favorites at running back hails from Mobridge-Pollock in 5’10 190 pound Mack Saxon. The elusive agility this young man has at such a young age was quite impressive to throw on tape. The upside on this young man is high in my eyes, as I believe his developing vision and durability will only further his game in the coming years. The big skillset I see that proves that is the finish I see in Mack’s athleticism as I believef he is still developing his body and already has the impressive running back frame I want to see as just a freshmen. Bright football future for Mack in the coming years. Twitter
Tylen Valandra
Tylen Valandra
One of South Dakota’s most productive 2025 running backs last year with over 1700 rushing yards and 25 total touchdowns, was Todd County’s Tylen Valandra. At 5’10 185 pounds, Tylen certainly is impressive with his heavy burst when gets north-south and I think that burst amps up further when he gets into the open field. Tylen blossoms between the tackles and shows off a sneakiness on tape that can blend in within the inside box. He also shows off sound change of direction that enhances his instinctive vision further, as a 2025 RB prospect that I believe has a next-level future. Twitter
Ty Mikel
Ty Mikel
A 2025 offensive linemen that popped out tonight on tape comes from 11AA’s 6-time consecutive state champions in Pierre T.F. Riggs Ty Mikel. At 6’4 220 pounds, this kid pops out early with his first step which quickly drives excellent leverage which you will constantly see getting to the second level. I also love the upside with Ty’s frame that is yet to grow, as he could certainly thrive in a college football S&C program. Ty also shows off great pad-level rep after rep, as a 2025 prospect to watch for at Dakotas prospect camps this summer for sure. Twitter
Brady is a 2026 quarterback prospect out of Viborg-Hurley that had an impressive 2023 season, with nearly 20 touchdowns and has showed some skills on tape that point out a good probability at being a quarterback you will see playing on Saturdays. As a growing 6’2 180 pounds, the first skillset that pops out with Brady is the speed of his quick release, as Brady’s mechanics visually show off his sound and developing football IQ. Brady knows where the best fit is for the football, as the precision he shows off on intermediate and short routes show that off fluidly. I would like to see more growth on tape with what he can do with his deep ball arm strength, but the poise this young man shows off and great football pedigree (cousin of SDSU QB Chase Mason) point at a bright future.
