Tonight our focus was on South Dakota, but you will find for the coming weeks that we will shift back and forth of finding new prospects on our radar. This list has a lot of hidden gems that some are young men college coaches will want to know early and we also found a 6’9 quarterback and much more!
Austin Flohr, QB, Rapid City Stevens (SD) (2027) Twitter
Austin so far has the best arm strength I have seen out a West River 2027 prospect, as a 6’1 160 pounder from Rapid City Stevens. What I like even more about his arm is the balanced touch he shows off on intermediate and deep routes, which is rare to see out of a young gunslinger. The wicked ball placement Austin also shows off plenty of spots where only his wide receiver could make a play and the fluid mechanics when this kid airs it out show off really good upside to grow in the coming years.
Drake Mikkelsen, WR/ATH, Lennox (SD) 2027
Another new 2027 prospect to my radar tonight was 6’5 185 pound Lennox wide receiver and defensive back Drake Mikkelsen. Drake certainly impresses me with his hands for his age, as his catch radius shows off well-versed awareness when he brings it to his chest and you can’t not watch his catch radius when watching his tape which has good fluidity with his stretch. The upside Drake shows off positionally shows off a future tight end in my eyes, as he has plenty of room to develop his route-running, blocking, and growing his release off the snap particularly. However, this kid might have some of the most intriguing upside to come as an East River prospect to watch over the coming years as there is plenty of room to grow Drake in the weight room with his size.
Ben Brooks, QB, Madison (SD) 2025 Twitter
The #7 jersey number for the Madison Bulldogs continues to be a good one for quarterbacks. At 6’9 210 pounds (no typo) 2025 prospect Ben Brooks certainly shows off to be an athletic specimen and his elusiveness at that size certainly pops out on the first clip of his junior tape as his instinctive change of direction really impressed me. You also can’t miss Ben’s durability, as the tape shows how it certainly takes an army to bring this kid to the turf. Another skillset that flashed on tape is the poise this young man shows off while in the pocket as I was impressed with his quick release and demeanor from the clips I watched. A basketball prospect as well, I wouldn’t be surprised if this kid didn’t have options in either sport as far as the next-level goes.
Camron Eng, RB/ATH, Castlewood (SD) 2025 Twitter
The first skillset that popped out quickly on tape for Camron is how quickly he can reactivate his burst and change of direction. Camron also shows off the instincts I like my running backs to have, as Camron’s vision shows off a running back that with his agility longer strides than you would expect for his 5’9 165 pound size that can use his athletic movement to freely get into the open field. Camron doesn’t have all of his tape in highlighted order yet, and the sooner he does I believe the sooner this small town hidden gem gets more hits on the recruiting trail in the Dakotas.
Kaleb Blackmun, OL, Sioux Falls Washington (SD) 2026 Twitter
With our first offensive linemen of this March Community Film Room we take a look at a prospect that intrigues me out of the 2026 class in Sioux Falls which is 6’1 260 pounder Kaleb Blackmun. Man, does this kid have some hands that are physical as heck and I like the speed Kaleb has with his hands when he has to reattach them going into the next-level. The consistency Kaleb found getting to the second level shows off how well-versed his pad level shows off to be on tape. Last year’s tape was on JV, but I like the upside Kaleb can produce for the up and coming Warriors over the next couple seasons.
