Here’s a look at those five seniors who joined those ranks — four Division-I signees and a JUCO signee who should join them i9n the next year or two.
No. 61 Ja’Corian Norris Ja’Corian Norris 6'2" | 185 lbs | ATH Tioga | 2024 State LA — 6-2, 185 ATH — Tioga —> Louisiana (Lafayette)
The highest-ranked addition to the final 2024 rankings, Norris checks lots of boxes of an intriguing prospect for the next level with the potential to prove himself one of the steals of the class for Louisiana (Lafayette). The instinctive, playmaking safety has a good-looking, Division-I frame, ball skills he displayed both on interceptions and as a pass-catcher and speed he displayed on the field and also the track as one of his high school’s top athletes throughout his career. Norris finished his senior season with 34 tackles, nine interceptions and five touchdowns on defense, with another 202 yards and two scores on 16 receptions on offense.
No. 64 Mackenzie Ardoin Mackenzie Ardoin 6'5" | 215 lbs | DL Northwest | 2024 State LA — 6-5, 215 DL — Northwest —> Navy
Another somewhat overlooked prospect with a chance to make some big noise at the next level, the big edge rusher earned district defensive MVP and all-state honors as a major playmaker on a Raiders squad that marched all the way to the semifinals at a No. 22 seed in the Division-II Non-Select playoffs. Ardoin finished his senior season with 64 tackles, including 19 for loss and nine sacks, with his tall, long frame and listed 4.56-second 40-yard speed.
No. 80 Kameron Cyprien Kameron Cyprien 6'3" | 225 lbs | DL Carencro | 2024 State LA — 6-3, 225 DL — Carencro —> Coffeyville Community College
Cyprien knew heading into his senior season that he would be headed the JUCO route out of high school and found a good landing spot at Coffeyville. But the big two-way standout for Carencro had already started hearing some from SEC programs this summer and should be a notable Louisiana prospect to watch in his next recruitment later this year. Cyprien was an all-district first-team and all-state honorable-mention performer as both a defensive end and tight end with 52 tackles, including four for loss and nine sacks, and two force fumbles on defense and 22 catches for 554 yards and seven scores on offense.
No. 89 Jayden Williams Jayden Williams 6'2" | 295 lbs | DL Wossman | 2024 State LA — 6-2, 295 — Wossman —> North Texas
The big, athletic lineman was a major leader and playmaker for a stingy Wildcats defense that led the program to an 8-2 regular season and No. 6 seed in the Division-II Non-Select bracket. Wossman shut out five of its 10 regular-season opponents behind Williams’ disruptive presence up front as one of the highlights. He finished his senior season with 76 tackles, including 27 for loss and four sacks, plus five pass breakups, three forced fumbles and one recovery and drew major praise from coach Terence Cahee II, himself a for Division-I safety, for the tone he set for the group.
No. 98 Carter Hanberry Carter Hanberry 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB Dutchtown | 2024 State LA — 6-0, 205 LB — Dutchtown —> Southeastern Louisiana
The highest-ranked of a couple additions from a hard-nosed Griffins squad that made history this fall with its first-ever semifinal run, Hanberry was a consistent presence all season in our weekly top performers lists from around the state. The Southeastern Louisiana signee is a bit of an old-school player in his physical and all-around style — playing major roles on both sides of the ball even at the Class 5A level — in a way that set the tone for and epitomized his Dutchtown team overall. He finished his senior season with 60 tackles, including nine for loss and four sacks, and three interceptions and two fumble recoveries on defense, while also rushing for 404 yards and 14 scores.
