Five 2025 Offensive Skill Players You Should Know

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I continue to dive into Canada discovering prospects nearly by the hour at this rate and some guys are starting to stand out, so much that I think some guys cannot just play at the next level in Canada but some players who deserve some attention from schools in the United States. With the ball in his hands, Smith shows really good balance, he can be knocked off his path or twisted and turned by defenders but he always moves his feet and stays up. Smith shows returner ability and can make plays with the ball in space. Smith also shows the ability to block in space, he does not show a violent punch or knock back but he is a good form blocker who will bring guys to the ground with high effort. The best way to describe his skillset is as a versatile pass catcher who shows solid speed and quickness out of his breaks and can take carries from the backfield and on jet sweeps but excels as a blocker showcasing his effort. Bernard may not be the biggest or strongest player but he blocks with good leverage and good hands. Poelzer runs with really impressive vision, he has quick feet and can make quick cuts upfield. He shows the ability to find the hole through traffic and can slip through tacklers and burst into open space. Poelzer shows some versatility both as a returner and pass catcher out of the backfield. He can have an impact in the screen game and down the field using his burst and quickness to create separation. Poelzer does seem to have the long speed you look for in a running back which helps him turn what would be 10-15 yard runs into much more. He runs with a low center of gravity making it hard for defenders to bring him down if they do not wrap up and hold onto his lower half. Hunter shows really good change of direction and twitch for his size and flashes long speed which helps him create separation. Hunter has soft hands and can catch away from his body, in contested catch situations Hunter high points the football well. His ability to track the ball over his shoulder especially when working close to the sidelines is at a high level. Drake has a good release off the LOS showing a good burst getting up the field in his first few steps. Out of his breaks and cuts, Drake is an explosive athlete and can create separation at all three levels of the field. One of Drake's best traits is his ability to catch the ball and turn upfield with confidence. Drake transitions to a ball carrier seamlessly and does a good job of making guys miss in the open field.
