Here’s a look at those eight seniors who made some of the most notable climbs on the last list, including a pair of SEC signees and five in-state signees.
No. 20 Katrevrick Banks Katrevrick Banks 6'3" | 185 lbs | DB Homer | 2024 State LA — 6-3, 185 DB — Homer —> Ole Miss
Banks has been a consistent riser during the past year-plus and made a final leap into the top 20 in last week’s update, but still may prove to be one of the more underrated — or at least under-discussed — prospects overall in the class. The Pelicans’ star has a great combination of Division-I size — recently measuring another inch taller and 20 pounds stronger — and athleticism, including his 10-85-second 100-meter speed, leap and body control. He garnered big praise throughout his career from high school coach Richie Casey Jr., a former Division-I wide receiver at Louisiana Tech.
No. 27 Tate Hamby Tate Hamby 6'1" | 180 lbs | ATH Ouachita Christian | 2024 State LA — 6-1, 180 ATH — Ouachita Christian —> Vanderbilt
Another standout with notable athletic traits from a smaller, but highly competitive school in somewhat rural north Louisiana. Vanderbilt found a potential gem in the multi-sport star from perennial football contender Ouachita Christian, just north of Monroe. Hamby is a tall, long athlete with an almost-staggering resume of interceptions, tackles, receiving and return yardage and scores — along with his state-title track and standout basketball athleticism.
No. 29 Daniel Beale Daniel Beale 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Catholic (Baton Rouge) | 2024 State LA — 6-2, 190 QB — Catholic (Baton Rouge) —> Louisiana (Lafayette)
The Bears’ quarterback appeared to control nearly every game the team played this fall on its way to a third state championship in his four-year career — not only with his strong, accurate arm or occasionally his sneaky speed in the open field, but with his overall intelligence, poise, feel for the pocket, toughness, competitiveness and long list of leadership attributes. He closed his career 589-for-970 (60.7%) for 8,466 yards, 105 touchdowns and 26 interceptions over three and a half seasons.
No. 40 Luke Wisham Luke Wisham 6'2" | 170 lbs | ATH Zachary | 2024 State LA — 6-2, 170 ATH — Zachary —> Louisiana Tech
Throughout his high school career as a receiver, the Zachary standout was been a steady presence in the middle of the top 100 of Prep Redzone Louisiana’s 2024 rankings from the initial list three years ago throughout its expansion and updates. And, after a strong senior season at safety, he makes a nice jump back up the list to No. 40. The Louisiana Tech signee is a long, wiry athlete with good ball skills and a willingness and confidence to play fast and physically in the box.
No. 53 Brooks Wright Brooks Wright 6'3" | 175 lbs | ATH Catholic (Baton Rouge) | 2024 State LA — 6-3, 175 WR/ATH — Catholic (Baton Rouge) —> Louisiana (Lafayette)
One of Beale’s key partners in crime on that Catholic offense (and, really, since early in their childhood), Wright was back on the football field after focusing on baseball last year and on offense this time around after previously working primarily at safety. Not only was the Louisiana (Lafayette) baseball signee a high-level athlete on the field, but also an impressively well-rounded receiver given the background. He finished his senior season with 44 catches for 820 yards and 16 scores.
No. 57 Tyreek Robinson Tyreek Robinson 5'9" | 150 lbs | ATH Evangel Christian | 2024 State LA — 5-9, 150 ATH — Evangel Christian —> Pittsburgh
Speed is a game-changer, and Pittsburgh dipped into Louisiana this recruiting cycle for a prospect with plenty of it. Robinson makes a huge leap in the final rankings as a somewhat raw receiver prospect, but an all-around athlete with outright speed and fluidity that few of his peers can match, including his 10.9-second 100-meter and 24.83-meter long jump.
No. 83 Paxton Lafont Paxton Lafont 6'4" | 200 lbs | WR E.D. White | 2024 State LA — 6-4, 200 WR — E.D. White —> Nicholls State
The Nicholls State signee doesn’t boast the same top-end speed as the aforementioned Robinson, but sneaky 22.90-second 200-meter and 4.60-second 40-yard dashes at his size that make him a notably explosive threat — a dynamic the typically run-heavy Cardinals did a good job of utilizing this fall. Lafont finished his senior season with 51 receptions for 941 yards (18.4 yards per catch) and 12 scores, often catching screen and other quick hits and blowing past defenders for big gains.
No. 92 Kyle Cannon Kyle Cannon 6'1" | 205 lbs | LB St. Charles Catholic | 2024 State LA — 6-1, 205 LB — St. Charles Catholic —> Southeastern Louisiana
Cannon popped onto our radar with pivotal plays in key moments as a sophomore that helped the Comets claim their first state championship in a decade. He continued climbing through the rankings the past two years and finishes in the top 100 into one of the state’s biggest tackle machines, a physical and sideline-to-sideline linebacker with good Division-I size. The Class 2A all-state defensive outstanding player this fall racked up 133 tackles, including 15. 5 for loss and 9.5 sacks, as well as five interceptions, a pair of fumble recoveries and a pair of blocked kicks among his long stat line.
