This article will outline the top 9 prospects from the Class of 2022, and I’ll catch you up to speed as to how they’re faring in College Football.
Will Johnson was the very easily the #1 player in Michigan’s class of 2022. Now? He’s a household name in College Football. I’d be shocked if you didn’t know who Will Johnson is. Will made the DB position look easy during his time at Grosse Pointe South, and he is undoubtedly the most polished, skilled, and talented DB I’ve ever watched.rnHis accolades in college include…rn- Freshman All-Americanrn- Defensive Freshman of the Yearrn- First-Team National All-Americanrn- 16 Starts at DBrn- Likely future 1st-round Draft Pick

Joshua was a game-wrecker for Traverse City Central. I remember watching him for the first time as TCC faced Caledonia in the playoffs in a blizzard, and I swear you could easily spot Joshua from a mile away. His size is unlike anything I’ve seen matched. He commanded the field as a linebacker and took the ball upfield as a “quarterback.” He is one of if not the single most dominant High School Football player I’ve watched.
Now, he’s entering his Junior season at Notre Dame. Last season, Joshua played in all 13 games, and cracked the starting lineup once as a defensive lineman. He had a big week 1 in Dublin, Ireland as he recorded his first career sack against Navy. Last season’s production indicates that he could be in for a breakout Junior season.

Although I never watched Deone while he was at Cass Tech, his production on film was impeccable. He also might be a name you’re going to hear about a LOT more next CFB season. I admittedly didn’t even know this, but Deone is amongst the most successful players of the 2022 class and he looks to be on his way to the NFL.rnAt Kentucky, Deone has earned…

Alex was a dominant two-way player for Garber. I was just starting out at Prep Redzone, and wasn’t able to watch him during his time in high school.
Spartan fans, you might know the story here. Alex earned a bit of playing time right out of the gate as a true freshman. In 21 snaps, he totaled 3 tackles as a freshman. He was set to have a much larger role in 2023, but he unfortunately suffered a season-ending injury very early in the season. Hopefully he’s able to bounce back and produce for Michigan State.

Myles is an interesting story. At Belleville, there was no doubt that he was incredibly talented and skillful. Earning several Power 5 offers, including offers from Michigan, Purdue, Notre Dame, and others. Then, something allegedly happened that caused schools to withdraw offers. At the end of his recruitment, Myles ended up committing to the Campbell Camels of the Big South. After spending 2022 with Campbell, he transferred to New Mexico State for the 2023 season, and just transferred to Arizona State for the 2024 season.
At Campbell, he posted good numbers as a true freshman. Myles totaled 1 interception, 3 PBUs, 1TFL and 37 total tackles.
Last season at New Mexico State, Myles improved. 70 tackles, 1INT, 3PBUs, and 1 forced fumble. He’ll look to have another productive season with yet another change of scenery.

Tyrell was an extremely dynamic and versatile athlete at Roseville. Now, he’s a very productive player for Michigan State, though he recently transferred to Wisconsin.
Last season, Tyrell was utilized as a receiver and return man. He totaled 205 return yards, 195 receiving yards, and 3 receiving touchdowns on 24 receptions. It seems that Tyrell had a nice Sophomore season, and I’m interested to see what his role is going to be at Wisconsin.

At West Bloomfield, Dillon quickly picked up where Donovan Edwards left off. Dillon had his own legendary season as Running Back for the Lakers, and he quickly committed to Michigan State as a very highly-touted prospect.
Last season, Dillon solidified himself as MSU’s full-time Safety. He earned 7 pass breakups, 45 tackles, and 2.5TFLs in 9 games. It looks like Dillon is still at MSU, and he should be a full-time DB who gets a lot of playing time next season.

Antonio Gates Jr had a dominant senior season at Fordson. I remember him being a dominant physical presence, and his name earned him even more notoriety. In addition, the Spartan faithful was esthetic to get a guy like Antonio on campus.
Last season, Antonio totaled 5 receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown. Much of that statline came from one explosive 45-yard touchdown during Week 2 against Richmond. We’ll see if his role increases heading into next season.

At Grand Rapids Catholic Central, Nolan was an electric two-way player. He’s one of the fastest and most explosive players I’ve ever watched. I was extremely excited to see him play at Notre Dame.
At Notre Dame, Nolan was a special teams contributor but had some bad luck down the road.rnNolan suffered a severe infection after a surgery. As a result, he was sidelined. This also led to “severe depression”.
Early this year, Nolan entered the Transfer portal and quickly committed to Central Michigan. Nolan is a guy to watch for the Chippewas next season!
