<p>With the official data rolling in from the Carolina Coaches Combines West Florence site, we're going to start by breaking down what much of it means for the players themselves.</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>As the official media partner of the Combines, Prep RedZone South Carolina is the lone outlet with full access to all of the Catapult GPS data. We've spent several hours crunching the numbers and pulling some of the biggest highlights from it.</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Not to mention using comparisons to see what it all really means.</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p><strong>SPEED, SPEED AND MORE SPEED</strong></p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Not surprisingly, Lamar's [player_tooltip player_id='1250948' first='Zoom' last='Jackson'] was tops in the class in the miles per hour category, as he his 21.97, presumably during his session-best 4.44-second 40-yard dash. But he wasn't the only one who got moving. The top 10 fastest were as follows:</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:table -->
<figure class="wp-block-table"><table><tbody><tr><td><em>NAME</em></td><td><em>POSITION</em></td><td><em>SCHOOL</em></td><td><em>MPH</em></td></tr><tr><td><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1250948' first='Zoom' last='Jackson']</strong></td><td>ATH</td><td>Lamar</td><td>21.97</td></tr><tr><td><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1360071' first='Bobby' last='Patterson']</strong></td><td>DB</td><td>West Florence</td><td>21.74</td></tr><tr><td><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1149046' first='Chris' last='Livingston']</strong></td><td>RB</td><td>Carolina Forest</td><td>21.67</td></tr><tr><td><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1254211' first='Kai' last='Morrison']</strong></td><td>DB</td><td>St. James</td><td>21.55</td></tr><tr><td><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1254005' first='Treyshawn' last='James']</strong></td><td>DL</td><td>Darlington</td><td>21.47</td></tr><tr><td><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1254042' first='Tyquawn' last='Murphy']</strong></td><td>DB</td><td>Lugoff-Elgin</td><td>21.41</td></tr><tr><td><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1012620' first='Web' last='Barnes']</strong></td><td>LB</td><td>Hartsville</td><td>21.37</td></tr><tr><td><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='272722' first='Zion' last='Gilbert']</strong></td><td>RB</td><td>South Florence</td><td>21.37</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Ethan Jirves</strong></td><td>DB</td><td>Ridge View</td><td>21.32</td></tr><tr><td><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1225683' first='Norey' last='Bradley']</strong></td><td>DB</td><td>Ridge View</td><td>21.28</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>
<!-- /wp:table -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Most of those are what you'd consider skill position players, even those who play multiple positions. The outlier was Darlington's James. Also a wrestler, James took off approximately 20 pounds during the winter to make weight on the mat. He weighed in Sunday at 185.6 pounds and took advantage to put up the fifth-fastest clocking time.</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p><strong>FASTEST BY POSITION</strong></p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>We're going to lump Jackson in with the receivers (his primary position), and we can also skip past defensive back, tailback, defensive line and linebacker. What about the rest?</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>The next positional group to show up was tight end, where Carolina Forest's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1254112' first='Joe' last='Ober']</strong> (who also had the combine-best 33 reps on the bench) hit 20.3663 miles per hour. Directly behind him - regardless of position - was fellow tight end/H-Back <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1249788' first='Connor' last='Gooding']</strong> from Gilbert, who chimed in at 20.3613 miles per hour.</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Among quarterbacks, North Myrtle Beach's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='985097' first='Landon' last='Cloninger']</strong> led the way with GPS data showing him running as fast as 19.99 miles per hour (rounded up every so slightly). </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Next in the pecking order was offensive lineman <strong>Drew Hill</strong> from Gilbert. He hit 19.98.</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>And while it's a repeated position, we can't ignore a separate category - the true big guys. Among all players who weighed in at more than 250 pounds, the fastest was Lamar left tackle <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='762756' first='Kendall' last='Walton']</strong> (6-foot-4.25, 291.6 pounds). He hit 19.13 miles per hour. That's the second time in under five months Walton (pictured) has been clocked at or near that speed in a Catapult vest during an official South Carolina Football Coaches Association-affiliated combine.</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p><strong>THIS AND THAT</strong></p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Myrtle Beach receiver [player_tooltip player_id='272701' first='John' last='Simmons'] has never been thought of as a blazer, necessarily, and while he did reach 20.58 miles per hour Sunday, it was only a complement to his other measurables. At 6-foot-3 and 198.8 pounds, the rising senior also showed off an 83-inch wing span (that's an inch shy of 7 feet, for those who don't want to math) while also getting up 20 reps on the 185-pound bench. Considering his 9-foot, 11-inch broad jump, and we're seeing his physical development start to hit another level.</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Other numbers also pointed again to Hartsville's Barnes (5-foot-9.5, 215.4 pounds) being all the way back from a foot injury that wiped out his entire junior year. In addition to his seventh-best miles-per-hour charting, he put up 22 reps on the bench. By comparison, the next fastest player to reach that bench tally ran a full second slower. </p>
