I am seeing a lot of impressive 2025 talent and while certain positions stand out for different reasons this group of linebackers show some elite positional versatility. These guys should not be boxed into just being called linebackers, they are defensive playmakers and they line up making plays on the line of scrimmage, as off-ball linebackers, and even out in space as safeties and slot corners.

Fauth hails from Cochrane High School in Alberta and has a good frame for the linebacker position at 6’2 200lbs. Fauth plays mostly outside linebacker where he utilizes a two-point stance and is asked to hold the edge. Fauth’s best skills are his ability to rush the passer and his violence at the point of attack. Fauth will put his shoulder into blockers and use fast hands to keep offensive linemen’s hands off him. As a pass rusher, Fauth uses his quickness and speed to win around the edge and shows a solid bend around the edge. Fauth has good closing speed both on the quarterback and when chasing ball carriers from behind. Fauth also showcases some reps in coverage where he excels coming downhill and making tackles in the open space. Fauth is one of my favorite Canadian prospects I have watched so far, he has quality tape and shows multiple reps that highlight each of his strengths as a player.

Highlights
MacFadden, a two-way player for Westminster in British Columbia has some quality defensive tape as a linebacker. MacFadden plays that sort of hybrid Strong Safety/Linebacker position and shows the ability to line up on the LOS and come off the edge impacting the run game but also as a slot corner who can read the quarterback and cover in space. MacFadden shows a lot of versatility on his tape but his ability to tackle in the open space is what flashes on tape. MacFadden has solid closing speed and burst to the ball but he plays with patience and good pursuit. MacFadden may not play LB at the next level because of his size but he can be classified more as a playmaker on defense who can change alignments on any given down or situation.

Godspower, another two-way player for Westminster plays linebacker defensively and he shows athleticism coming off the edge as a pass rusher. Godspower shows good burst upfield and plays with quick hands that help him get off blocks and slip through lanes against offensive linemen. Godspower shows the ability to blitz from both edges and come down the middle both on the LOS over the center and as an off-ball blitzer. Godspower can be inconsistent with his hands, at times he shows the ability to use quick hands and upper body strength to shed blocks and penetrate the backfield but there are also moments when he does not utilize his length and gets caught inside of a couple of offensive linemen. If Godspower can build more consistency in his hand usage, he make plays at an even higher rate.

Hertz does not have a full posted set of highlights from 2023 like some of the other prospects on the list but there is enough tape by individual clips and game to start an evaluation. Hertz, a 6’3 205lb linebacker from Alberta. Hertz shows solid change of direction in space and throughout multiple clips showed some positional versatility playing in a more traditional off-ball linebacker role and being asked to come off the edge to rush the passer. Hertz shows that he can tackle in space and has solid bend and flexibility off the edge. Watching all of Hertz’s film from 2023 and 2022 is like piecing a puzzle together with all the different clips and games but there are some flashes of a talented OLB from George McDougall.

Hamilton may have the most impressive build of this group as he looks a true 6’3 and plays with elite-level length. Hamilton plays mostly outside linebacker and shows the ability to read the game well when he drops into zone coverage, he does a good job of showing burst to the ball carrier and has good tackling form. Coming off the edge, Hamilton does a good job of using his length to get around the edge and close on the quarterback. When Hamilton forces the quarterback to move outside of the pocket he shows closing speed and the ability to impact the throw without getting a sack. Hamilton is a very impactful defender for St. Matthews and has some really solid tape from the 2023 Season.
