These players showcased excellent explosiveness from start to finish, making a statement in both warm-ups and positional drills. Without any further ado, here’s my list of the top performers/MVPs.
At the top of my list of top performers is Kohnner Trent Kohnner Trent 6’1″ | 160 lbs | ATH Hart County | 2025 KY , an athlete at Hart County High School. Trent made his presence known during drills, claiming an offensive MVP award. Trent impresses me with his ability to be versatile down the stretch and use his core strength to stun his opponent in coverage. I also like Trent’s ability to match his foe’s physicality and stay in front of the pass. Trent’s catching ability is another facet of his playstyle that makes a big difference.
Another top performer to showcase his talent was Kyle Sledge Jr. Kyle Sledge Jr. 6’0″ | 185 lbs | ATH Bowling Green | 2028 KY , an incoming freshman athlete at Bowling Green High School. Sledge made his presence known during positional drills, earning a defensive MVP award. I liked watching Sledge as a defensive back due to his ability to read the pass and utilize his wing span to wrap up receivers in coverage. Sledge also proved he could be disruptive by swatting the ball out of the air.
Highlights
Zachary Philpot
Zachary Philpot
I am additionally impressed with Zachary Philpot, an offensive lineman at North Laurel High School. Philpot was relentless at the line of scrimmage, picking up an offensive MVP award. What impresses me about Philpot’s playstyle is his size and strength in the pocket. With great height and arm length, Philpot can easily overpower his man. I also like Philpot’s ability to absorb pressure and create disorganization with his strength and physical edge.
Cam James
Cam James
Also making his presence known on Saturday was Cam James, an athlete at Owensboro Catholic High School. James left it all on the field during positional drills, claiming a defensive MVP award. In addition to great execution, James stood out with his aggression and ability to be disruptive in coverage. I also like how James could attack the ball in the air and utilize his arms to quickly wrap up his opponent and stay in front of the pass.
