Small School Gems Pt. I

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">The majority of the high school football players in our state don't play for premier powerhouses in big cities. A lot of them are the kid next door who doesn't get the shine associated with some of the recruiting hotbeds. That doesn't mean these small schools don't contain a ton of good ball players just looking for the next opportunity! A large part of that is him getting into the weight room and doing work! He is starting to transform his body into a solid offensive lineman, and is starting to work on the technical part of the game to go with it. I like seeing him get more aggressive, and being in control and breaking down at the point of contact and really driving through his blocking assignment. I really like that offensively and on special teams, he can be a home run guy. He is able to run great routes to get open behind the secondary, and he has the open field vision and speed to make plays in the return game. Defensively, he reads plays quickly, and tracks the ball in flight extremely easily to make interceptions and PBU's a common play for him. I see him really strive as a runner, as he has great vision, makes guys miss and can pull away if he gets to the 2nd level. Throwing the ball he is starting to develop nicely. As his arm strength continues to improve I see really good things opening up for him. Currently he plays in the states 8 Player Division, so I will be curious to see how reading a defense there can translate to reading the defense with 11 players on the field. I really like his ability to be a threat to score in all 3 phases. Offensively he is a blazing receiver that can get behind a secondary in a hurry. He runs pretty precise routes and doesn't tend to round them off at the top. Defensively he is always looking for a big hit. He can cover guys really well, and has good closing speed when the ball is arriving. He can come up in the run game and isn't afraid to take on some bigger opponents along the way. On special teams he is a blazing returner with good vision, and explosive when he gets out and goes. Zefi is a really fun 2 way player that does a ton on both sides of the ball. He's a ball hawking safety defensively who can track the ball in flight and make a ton of picks and get a ton of PBU's. I like that he has nice closing speed and doesn't tip off where he's going until the last moment. Offensively I can see Zefi really becoming an elite receiver. He runs like a deer, has long strides and looks quite natural. He still cuts effectively and gets a lot of separation. When he is thrown a jump ball, he does a great job of going up to high point it, yanks it down and tucks it immediately.
