National Preps Winter Showcase -2024 Defensive Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Recently National Preps held is annual 2024 Senior Showcase which gave uncommitted 2024 prospects another chance to perform in front of college coaches and help out their recruitment. Over 20-30 Colleges from the D2 &amp; D3 level where there to check out all prospects, getting verified HT and WTs and ran through position specific drills and 1v1s. Below are some of the top senior defensive prospects from that day, with a strong showing from the DB group that day. Physical player who is not afraid to come up and make the tackle. Shows quick footwork and the ability to run the route with the WR and stay on their hip. Feel his background as a receiver has helped him as he understands route combinations and and eye for when the ball is coming.  Solid arm length, is always getting his hands on the pass. Was dominate in camp 1v1's, not giving up a single reception to my memory, and being there to break up the catch / knock down the ball for every rep. Has a ton of potential at the position as he continues to learn and get comfortable being that lock down corner. A rangy ILB who moves well with fluid hips. In 1v1s and drills he should quick COD and ability to play on his toes showing burst/explosiveness. Should good bend as well working through the bags. Has good size and a frame that will continue to fill out with good muscle. Sarwar is a versatile ILB. Can be used in multiple ways on D and is a great fit for a hybrid SS/Slot DB placement. Is quick to diagnose the play and explode to make a play on the ball. Was lockdown in 1v1's, playing strong in press and staying on the WRs hip to make plays on the pass. Segbe is a strong tackler, not afraid to hit and stick his nose in the play. Effective in the box as well as being a ball hawk. Yoked up and long arms, he is a physical specimen that will fill out with another ~20lbs of muscle easily. A dynamic ATH, he played QB for Newark as well as rushing for 1,200 yards and making 1st Team All State for DB. He's a rangy player with a good stride who can cover lots of ground. Fluid hips, shows good COD, can stick his foot in the ground and burst to the ball. Plays physical and can deliver a blow with the filled out frame he's got. Could also see him developing into that overhang hybrid S/OLB role as he continues to develop and get stronger. He can play any where along the DL depending on scheme and plays with an endless motor. One of Gavin's beat features as a DL is his explosiveness off the snap. A quick first step paired with good bend and active hands, he is a handful for OL. Shows a wide array of pash rush moves, a good rip, swim, and can set up the out-and-in with is quick feet and loose hips. All of this checks along with his toughness as he is also a wrestler. Showing strength and leverage when taking on blockers and being able to just push them back collapsing the pocket.
