Searcy is a dynamic athlete that can be a game breaker in all three phases. Possesses a strong compact frame at 5’8” 180 lbs. with fluid athleticism and change of direction. Made explosive plays as a RB, DB, and kick returner in his first year at Pittsburg since transferring from Liberty. Makes quick lateral cuts on a dime and accelerates out to be elusive in the open field. Gets to top speed within a few strides and flashes a sustained second gear to break away from defenders in space. At Safety, he shows great range and ball skills. Demonstrated recovery speed and the ability to transition out of his back pedal to break on the ball. Rushed for almost 1,000 yards including 10 touchdowns, picked off four passes, and returned multiple punts for touchdowns as a junior. Holds four D1 offers to date but will pick up more as the recruiting cycle progresses.
4 Offers: Houston Christian, UNLV, Sacramento State, SDSU
Highlights
Calhoun’s a dominant combo WR/DB at 6’1” 190 lbs. and one of the most slept prospects in northern California. He’s a pure football player with a wide skillset and natural instincts on both sides of the ball. Possesses an aggressive playing style that is fast, physical, and has a knack for making big plays in critical moments. Think he projects more on the defensive side at the next level where he can use his quick key and play diagnoses to anticipate and use his short area burst to break on the ball. From his safety position, he’s well coached and shows good eye discipline to make quick decisive reads and then trigger. He comes downhill hard and brings heavy contact not only as a tackler but when taking on blockers as well. Takes smart angles to the ball carrier and is a strong one on one open field tackler. No offers yet but expect that to change given his D1 talent and ability.
Thurman checks a lot of boxes as a major D1 recruit with his impressive physical traits and skillset. At 6’4” 210 lbs. he’s got a great combination of length, speed and athleticism. For his size, he shows high level movement skills, speed and body control. On both sides of the ball at WR/TE and Edge he plays violently while flashing good strength and physicality at the POA. He plays through contact and finishes opponents to the ground. At WR/TE, he’s a natural pass catcher with a large catch radius that extends outside his framework. Understands how to box out defenders at the catch point and use his coordination and tracking ability to high point the ball. He’s got deceptive speed straight line speed and has some short area quickness to evade in the open field. One of the top athletes in northern California that is still underrecruited holding three D1 offers.
3 Offers: San Jose State, Nevada, Oregon State
Huddle has continued to show great year over year improvement through his junior year. He’s got a well-built and balanced frame at 6’3” 200 lbs. that has added weight/size without sacrificing his speed and movement skills. He’s a highly coordinated natural athlete that plays physical on both sides of the ball. At WR, he’s a big target that can create a throwing lane using his size to shield off defenders or his technical route running to separate. Possesses strong hands at the catch point and competes for the ball to bring in contested catches in traffic. Can extend gains after the catch using his speed or his contact balance to run through tacklers, especially in the secondary. No offers yet but he’s a high ceiling prospect that should see his recruiting stock on the rise entering his senior season. Racked up 57 receptions for 900 yards and 12 touchdowns on offense and 49 tackles with four interceptions on defense on his way to numerous post season accolades including league MVP, All-Norcal, and All-State honors.
