The 2023 high school football season ended in West Texas a couple of weeks ago. But we're already looking forward to the 2024 campaign. Here are 10 Offensive Players to Watch in the South Plains for 2024:

Nate Casarez, Lubbock Roosevelt: Casarez was a workhorse as the quarterback in Roosevelt's run-dominated attack (662 rushing attempts in 13 games), leading the Eagles with over 1,000 rushing yards and 13 TD. Casarez led Roosevelt to the 3rd round (Regional Semifinals) of the Class 3A, D2 playoffs .

[player_tooltip player_id='691003' first='Caleb' last='Cook'], New Home: The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Cook was fantastic again in leading New Home to an 11-1 record and the 2nd round of the Class 2A, D2 playoffs. Their lone loss came in the playoffs to Sunray. He threw for close to 2,000 yards, giving him about 4,000 career passing yards entering his senior season.

Chip Green, Littlefield: Green is a talented dynamo at QB for Littlefield. He combined to amass well over 2,000 total yards and over 30 TD for the Wildcats. His senior season should be even better.

Wyatt Holmstrom, Seminole: Holmstrom had an immediate and significant impact upon the Indians in his first year as the starting QB. He threw for 3,221 yards and 41 TD while completing an impressive 71.4 percent of his passes to lead Seminole as far as the Third (Regional Semifinals) Round of the Class 4A, D2 playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1131353' first='Nathan' last='Martens'], Muleshoe: Martens doubled his production from his sophomore season by throwing for 2,098 yards and 19 TD. Most importantly, he reduced his interceptions from 11 in 2022 to just 6 in 2023. That's growth. If he makes an identical leap in 2024, his performance will be the stuff of legends.

[player_tooltip player_id='923475' first='Bobby' last='Ross'], Lubbock Estacado: One of the early favorites for the 2024 South Plains Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Ross notched his third consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season in 2023 with a career high 1,564 yards and 22 TD on 149 carries. Ross led Estacado to a final 10-3 record and a Third (Regionals) Round appearance in the Class 4A, D1 playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1420687' first='Leyton' last='Stone'], Frenship: Another early favorite for the 2024 South Plains Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Remarkable junior campaign in 2023 with 93 receptions for 1,658 yards and 23 TD for the high-scoring Tigers offense. Multiple Power 5 offers.

Dallas Sumner, New Deal: Just a sophomore, Sumner showed maturity beyond his years by throwing for 2,369 yards and 24 TD. In two years, Sumner has already amassed nearly 3,900 passing yards for the Lions, who reached the Regional Semifinals of the Class 2A, D1 playoffs.

Isaiah Vazquez, Lubbock Coronado: Vazquez emerged this past season as a promising dual threat QB by throwing for over 1,100 yards and rushing for close to 400 yards. Coronado will count on him in 2024 to lead them to a playoff spot.

Clayton Vincent, Shallowater: Vincent showcased his dual threat skills in Shallowater's run-dominated attack. He kept defenses honest by throwing for over 600 yards and rushing for 454 yards, second most on the Mustangs behind departing senior Kouper Boyd, a 1,700+ yard rusher in 2023.
