This article highlights several offensive prospects set to take the field this weekend. Below, I highlight five playmakers set to be recognized by offensive recruiters this winter.
Casey Rooney Casey Rooney 5’11” | 165 lbs | QB Kearney | 2024 State MO has been dominant throughout Kearney’s 2023 season. Casey visited Missouri Western State in November and also has received interest from other schools in Missouri this fall. Watch for the talented passer to be a late riser this winter. Casey’s anticipation shows delivering well-timed balls in between defenses’ underneath zones. Casey’s quickness in the open field and strength in his finish highlights his potential to be a dual threat in college. Flashes of next level arm strength show delivering strikes up the seam and outside the numbers. Good touch shows leading receivers downfield who are well-covered.
Chase Sucharski
Chase Sucharski
Chase Sucharski has already cemented himself into the Hillsboro record books with an outstanding playoff performance. Chase received an offer from Southwest Baptist last month, so don’t be surprised when more schools in the region come in late to his recruitment this winter. Chase’s good vision and next level quickness allows him to create with the ball in his hands. Strong hands and good tracking ability consistently allows Chase to win contested catches. Chase shows next level long-speed taking underneath catches for huge gains.
Preston Brown Preston Brown 6’2″ | 200 lbs | QB Hillsboro | 2025 State MO has led Hillsboro to their first state championship appearance. Preston has been to several camps at schools outside of Missouri, but I am surprised he has not seen more offers come in this fall. Expect Preston to be one of the 2025 classes’ highest rising prospects once 2024 begins. Preston’s next level combination of size, speed, strength, and athleticism allows him to contribute as a true dual threat in college. Preston shows a good combination of anticipation and accuracy leading receivers over the middle. Good arm strength gets displayed squeezing the ball into tight windows in the red zone.
Highlights
Jobe Bryant Jobe Bryant 5’11” | 160 lbs | WR Park Hills Central | 2024 State MO has ran, thrown, and caught the ball for the Rebels’ offense this season. The versatile playmaker received an offer from Western Illinois in August, but don’t be surprised if he plays basketball in college. Still, be on the lookout for more schools in the region to recruit Jobe to the gridiron before spring gets here. Good strength, balance, and burst allows Jobe to accelerate through traffic and create as a ball carrier in the open field. Jobe’s size, strong hands, and good long speed allows him to align anywhere at the next level. Jobe’s athleticism and vision gets highlighted right away as a punt returner and coaches are sure to make a note of his playmaking ability on special teams.
Ian Ngugi
Ian Ngugi
After two consecutive postseason runs, Ian Ngugi is back in the state championship game. Watch for the versatile playmaker’s recruitment to heat up after the playoffs end this weekend. Ian’s good athleticism and tracking ability shows adjusting to contested deep balls. Next level speed shows separating vertically from defenders in off coverage. Good vision and acceleration with the ball in his hands highlights Ian’s ability to be a dangerous playmaker in space in college.
