Our showcases are a great opportunity for high school football prospects to get exposure in front of college coaches and Prep Redzone scouts. Testing results were recorded for colleges across the country to access following the event. With Prep Redzone scouts in attendance, dedicated to highlighting top performers, players received unparalleled coverage during, and after the event on PrepRedzone.com and social media. After check-in, athletes attending were broken into three portions: testing, position-specific drills, and 1-on-1 competition. Testing included the 40-yard dash (hand-timed), pro shuttle (hand-timed), L Drill (hand-timed), and broad jump. We will be releasing these results here on the site in another publication.
The showcase ended with notable top performers being recognized and ended with the selection of an MVP for each position. The prospects below were selected as the Top Performers and MVP amongst the Defensive Back group.
Nate Sampson
Defensive Back Top Performer: The senior defensive back showed good flexibility/athletic ability: He displayed the ability to bend and was fluid in his movements. His loose hips are the engine of his skill set. He can flip his hips in either direction fluidly and quickly and displayed this during the drill period. His instincts/awareness stood out during the competition period. Has good ball skills with natural hands. Gave a consistent effort through out the showcase.
Josh Simms
Defensive Back Top Performer: ” Simms gave consistent effort during the showcase. He is a bit undersized in his frame and body weight but has good athleticism to play through the concern. He’s a sophomore with plenty of time for additional growth. He displayed the ability to close in space quickly with a good burst and acceleration. He can recover quickly (catch up speed). A bit raw in technique but does have the tools to work with. He flashed fluid movements in drill period that included having loose hips to break in either direction.

Antonio Bearden
Defensive Back MVP: The rising sophomore showed his versatility by taking both Wr and Db reps at the showcase. His effort caught the attention of many positional coaches and his performance earned him recognition at both WR and DB. He was selected as a defensive back MVP while he also shined brightly at WR. He has very good length in his arms. He has the ability to disrupt/make plays with his length. He is put together well enough to be physical and durable.
rnI have witnessed him in an evaluation setting along with performing in live game action and his skills have been consistent each time. He is a very good prospect with good athletic coordination. His defensive back skills are instinctive as he has a great feel for the game. He is put together well enough to be physical and durable. His off-season strength training program will likely give him more to offer in years to come. Stay tuned, as he has more room in his frame for additional growth and development.
