This Season’s Most Explosive Players

The Corpus Christi Longhorns RB entered his junior year of High School this season with a summer Provincial Championship for the Burlington Stampeders. Honchar put together the best stat line across the country rushing for 1024 yards, 10 rushing TD's, 13 receptions for 204 yards, and 2 receiving TD's, while averaging 8 yards per carry in only 8 games. Honchar is my number one back in the country for many reasons, he has everything you look for from solid size at 5'11, 180 pounds with an elite burst at the line, to an impressive ability to always hit the proper gap between the tackles in zone run schemes. As well, when we think of the perfect RB, they must be able to play in the receiving game. Honchar usually is the biggest threat to find pay dirt whether he lines up in the backfield or out of the slot receiver position. Dylan Dellemonache out of Welland Centennial Secondary School is not one of the more well known names across Canada as he plays at a smaller school close to the Niagara Falls border, but Dellemonache plays the game with an absolute purpose when he's on field. Whether Dellemonache lines up out of the backfield or at the slot X position, opposing defensive coordinators design their defenses around him. With a cerebral ability to make defenders miss, Dellemonache often finds himself chasing grass while defenders try to hang on to his coat tails. As mentioned Dellemonache does play two ways for Welland Centennial, so you can also see him line up as an outside linebacker as he's able to set the edge on outside containment with precision, but he's also got the athletic ability to drop back to cover the hook/curl read or get out to the flats. One of the prospects I've had the pleasure to scout multiple times this season is [player_tooltip player_id='1150166' first='Owen' last='Hess'] out of Saltfleet High School. Hess is in every sense of the mean a “one touch back”, meaning he's a danger to find 6 points every time he's on the field. Watching Hess against the now No. 6 team in all of Canada, the Westmount Wildcats, he was the only form of offense that Saltfleet could put together in their 46-14 loss. Hess opened the game showing off his elite speed and cut back ability housing and 85 yard kick return that saw him make one defender miss on the inside before finding the perimeter of the field and turning on the after burners. Hess a dual sport athlete (a provincial level lacrosse player) later in the second quarter showed off his elite footwork on a RPO play that saw him squeeze between the left guard and tackle before making the strong side linebacker miss, and again turning and burning for a 74 yard scamper.
