Continue ReadingWith a win over undefeated Weequahic last weekend in the section semifinals, Butler will look to continue their success with quarterback Bobby Battipede Bobby Battipede QB Butler | 2024 NJ leading the offensive effort. Bobby put on a great performance last weekend, as he went 12 for 15 and threw a touchdown and 122 yards. Throughout the season he has found success through the air. He is an extremely efficient thrower, hitting his receivers in stride with great timing. While Bobby has thrown for 1154 yards and 8 touchdowns so far this season, he has made a huge impact with his legs as he has ran for 814 yards and 10 touchdowns. Bobby will have to hurt Shabazz’s defense through the air and on the ground for Butler to win it this weekend.
The Lakeland running back Jeremy O’Hernandez Jeremy O’Hernandez 5’8″ | 190 lbs | RB Lakeland | 2025 NJ will need to have a big game this weekend in order to overcome undefeated Bernards. Lakeland has relied heavily on QB Collin Sabric Collin Sabric 6’1″ | 170 lbs | QB Lakeland | 2025 NJ offensively, but may need to offload responsibility to Jeremy if Bernards comes out shadowing Sabric. Jeremy has been very successful on the ground this year, running for 886 yards and 10 touchdowns thus far.
Lakeland was able to take down perennial powerhouse Caldwell last weekend in maybe the biggest upset of the year, and will hope to keep the momentum rolling into this weekend.
A true duel threat and the heart and soul of Roxbury, quarterback Anthony Skawinski Anthony Skawinski 5’6″ | 150 lbs | QB Roxbury | 2024 NJ will look to remain unbeaten against Mt. Olive this weekend. A familiar foe, Mt. Olive is coming into the game suffering only one loss on the season, which came to Roxbury late in September. Roxbury narrowly got by with a 10-7 victory.
However, Roxbury has been absolutely dominant throughout the majority of their season. Anthony has lead the effort, throwing for 1228 yards and 13 touchdowns. Anthony has a quick release and is surrounded by talented receivers that he can toss it up to. Anthony is also an agile athlete, as he has rushed for 490 yards and found the end zone 11 times on the ground.

Matthew Scerbo Matthew Scerbo 6’2″ | 175 lbs | WR Phillipsburg | 2025 NJ is one of those receivers in the state that deserves more recognition. The Phillipsburg wideout has had a phenomenal year, catching 6 touchdowns and 612 yards so far. A receiver with great size, Matt is a target that can compete for the ball and consistently come down with it. What impresses me the most in Matt’s game is his quickness and ability to stop a corner in his tracks with his stutter step. Matt is able to force the defender to commit to a short route, ony to turn around and burn him downfield. And with the long strides Matt is equipped with, defenders rarely catch up to him.
One of the top running backs in the 2025 class coming out of New Jersey, Union City’s Mark Boyd Mark Boyd 5’9″ | 160 lbs | RB Union City | 2025 State NJ is primed for a big game against Phillipsburg. Union City runs a ground based offense, giving Mark the ability to unleash his full potential. Mark is an all around great talent, with multiple skills that elevate him above his competition. A sharp cutter and a player that can run through arm tackles, Mark even has the speed to leave defenders in the dust behind him. Union City hasn’t lost since week 1, and will look for another big performance out of their lead running back this weekend in one of my favorite matchups of the season.
