Camp Point Central took care of business today in Bloomington defeating Lena-Winslow 14-0. As expected they relied on their dominating run game to move the ball down the field and control the ball. Senior running back Isaac Genenbacher had himself a memorial day in the last game of his high school career. He ended the day with 141 rushing yards on 24 carries and 2 touchdowns. His offensive line did a great job opening up big holes and he was able to do the rest to help bring home a championship in 1A.

In the class 2A game, Wilmington defeated Athens 28-0. In a game that did not feature a completed pass, The wildcats rushed the ball 48 times for 254 yards. Kyle Farrell was the leading rusher of the game with 192 yards rushing. He was able to break the game open with his 78 yard touchdown run, his speed was on display today showcasing his big play ability. Farrell is only a junior and is set to have a big senior year in 2024.
Andrew Talbert

Byron put on a show today, having one of the most impressive victories in state championship history. Scoring 69 points with over 500 yards of offense and breaking the all time record for points scored in a season, Byron has a lot to celebrate tonight. The lights were not too bright for their freshman quarterback Andrew Talbert who rushed for 154 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was impressive with the ball in his hands. I look for Byron to keep building their legacy with so much young talent returning for the Tigers for years to come.

Rochester will add it’s 9th state championship to the trophy case with their 59-38 win tonight over St Laurence. The rockets offense was clicking on all cylinders getting a lot of their playmakers the ball. Henry Buecker had a stand-out performance with 89 yards receiving and a touchdown. He also had 83 yards rushing and another touchdown on the ground. The big plays by Buecker and the rockets helped Rochester prove they are one of the best offenses in the state regardless of class size.
