SPOTLIGHT: 2027 Wide Receiver; Sebastian Lora
My Spotlight interviews are dedicated and designed to attract a college coach’s attention and provide additional recruiting exposure to New England High School Football recruits. The interviews provide an unknown background on a “specific recruit” during their high school varsity playing years. The interviews include questions to recruits about the recruitment process and their current status. It involves asking questions that allow College Coaches interested in the recruit to learn more about the recruit personally.

SCOUTING NOTES: The rising freshman has made his skill level known to many. I first saw “Lora” in the spring 2022 on a 7v7 tournament platform. His speed and quickness, combined with advanced route-running abilities, easily drew my attention. He appeared at several various tournaments and each time showed the same competitive athletic skill set. He displayed a quick release off the LOS, good vision and instincts, good hands, and quickness to make defenders miss. Each time I spoke with him, he appeared very confident in his skills and was very excited to get on the field as a freshman for a very strong program, Bishop Hendricken High School in Rhode Island. He was well aware the program at Bishop would help his future development and put him on track to achieve his goal of earning an athletic scholarship. His maturity level is advanced, and he puts in the work needed in the off-season. He told me he was planning to go in and compete at a high level for a position to start and not look back. The young man did just that and earned a starting position at wide receiver. A task that is not that easy to do at a top private school in Rhode Island.
I then saw him in live game action in early October 2023. At first glance from a distance, he appeared to have grown a bit in height from the spring. During this game, I confirmed his mental toughness and desire to play physically during each rep. He surely has quickness and possesses the speed for a Division 1 athlete. He is still slightly undersized for the wide receiver position of a Division 1 FBS Group of 5 or Higher FCS Wide Receivers. He also needs to achieve more upper and lower body strength, which will be done within his high school program. His measurables align with Low FCS/High D2/High NAIA Wide Receivers. His skill set mirrors the FBS Group of 5 or High FCS Wide Receivers. He has an instant release off the LOS with low pad level, a burst into the route, one-step cuts, outstanding catching ability, and the ability to separate himself from defenders with his speed. He can catch a jump ball as easily as a mesh, slant, or hitch. He is very comfortable running all routes, possesses very good ball skills, and flashes a willingness to block. Overall, I have him as a Division 1 athlete after his high school varsity career has been completed. The level of division one will be based on his future growth and development.
